I'm using Vegas pro 16 (build 352) 64bit. i7 cpu / GTX1060

When ever import .mp4 (from OBS or my cell phone(Samsung Galaxy S9))
I only hear the audio but all black screen.

I tried most of solutions around interne include from many youtube such as
Install Quicktime, remove compoundplug.dll, install coreAVC, install FFDshow, install H.264VWF, turning on/off CUDA etc....

Some people said that just do convert, but I've got bunch of footage to edit, it would take so much time.

I come here to get some help from vegas gurus cause I can't fix this.

Any idea of solution?

Suggest you upload a short sample file that cannot be imported into Vegas.

What hardware do you use , exactly which driverversions for the Intell GPU and which i7?
Compoundplug plug deleting is the worst thing you could do, other than the newer so4.compoundplug, that if deleted gives sometimes a more fluent preview.

If possible send a small problem file to us via a cloud service.

I think HappyOtter Script Import Assist (HOS) will solve this easily. @wwaag

I uploaded on Google driver. But I don't know google driver converts to something else or accept original.

But if encoded, video got some img data loss so not good for quality isn't it? That's what I know so far.

Just downloaded your file. It imports OK into Vegas 16 without any re-wrapping or transcoding.

The file can also be imported without issue into V12, V13, V14, and V15.

Your file opens without problems in Vegas Movie Studio 15 Build 157 so I would expect Vegas Pro to handle it. So4compoundplug.dll is used to decode it. Do you have that decoder enabled?

Edit; wwaag has just confirmed.

So the problem appears unique to Johan. Johan do you have any TP codec packs installed on your system?

I used to be open and read .mp4 before with no problem. But I don't know what is the problem with mine. I've tried sony version(VP13) it works there, but upon 14, 15, 16 I've got no idea....

File is playing well on all my Vegas versions available on laptop.

I asked you "What hardware do you use , exactly which driverversions for the Intell GPU and which i7?"

You did not answer that question but gave the models of your laptop with all kind off variations in power aso.

To be precise: Give exactly the version of your Intel i7 ( there are a lot of types i7) and exactly what driverversion for your Nvidia GPU (not to say uptodate, because that says nothing) and which Intel driverversions for your Intel CPU and GPU.
I'll be away for I thinks about 10 hours, because I'm going to sleep now.

No, sir. Your "system" is not at fault. Failure to open in Handbrake is damning evidence of file corruption.

Was it broadcast source? Have you tried fixing it in the VideoRedo trial? Did you reposition your timeline cursor to start position after importing your file?

Chief24 wrote on 12/27/2018, 10:00 PM

So, you say Handbrake didn't work? Did you "View and Follow" the directions in the tutorial link? There was a reason I used my version of Vegas Movie Studio, instead of Vegas Pro.

Also, there is no "Driver" for the CPU. There would be a driver for the Intel Graphics processor that is part of your i7-6700HQ CPU. So, one of the other items you could check, which naturally is within the "troubleshooting FAQ", that has a step to turn off the "Integrated Graphics" of the processor within the UEFI/BIOS (your system, check manual) and only try the "Dedicated" Graphics processor that you listed as being the GTX 1060.

Tennis serve has been returned.

Maybe this difficult way for disable is needed for a desktop, but on a laptop ( as OP has) only disable in Windows device management is enough.
That's my way of testing always one or the other
