I have Studio 14 and have tried using Remove From and Clear on a video clip. It does not separate video from audio. I saw another post about this, but none of the solutions worked for me.
So far, this has been my only issue with Vegas. Most things I need for editing are just basic stuff that work fine for what I need. This though, was frustrating.
Before Windows 10 killed Movie Maker, I was using that just fine. To me, the free editors out there kinda suck, so I went with Vegas.
None of the keyboard shortcuts and pop-up commands work at all for separating video and audio. However, the one about right-clicking a clip and dragging it to the timeline gives me a pop-up with audio or video options. Cool! But, the part of the video I want to change audio on is maybe 5 seconds long in the middle of a clip several minutes long. THAT sucks. Now I have to go through and find it. Too bad I can't do it in the shorter edited clip. Let me complain a little bit. :0P Why include commands that do not work though? The one that does work is no way obvious. But I can now play with audio and video separately. Groovy.
Please note that those commands Musicvid and Richard mentioned work in the Platinum version. The basic version does not include several "more advanced controls" as you will find out.
I don't have a basic MS version to test, but see if this works there: "Shift+drag edge of event ignores event grouping so you can trim audio and video events independently."
