Cannot Download what I own

PeterWright wrote on 7/2/2020, 2:59 AM

I've spent half an hour without finding how to ask Support a question, so .....
I am trying to download V17 on a different computer, I click on the Download link from the email. I have to click I'm not a robot then Security check - click on which squares have a traffic light, fire hydrant etc, three or four different sets of photos, then when I click the DOWNLOAD button it moves downwards slightly, but nothing starts to download.. It's done this 10 times or more ...
On a different computer on which I don't want Vegas, I click on the email link, then I don't have to do the photo security check, and when I click DOWNLOAD it starts downloading which I have to interrupt.
Why doesn't it download on the first computer?

@PeterWright

Has the computer that you are trying to DL on have the latest W10 (b2004) and the recently updated and rebuilt MS Edge?

If yes, it downloads in a completely way than it used to. The DL actually occurs and a small DL indicator appears in the far bottom LH corner of the screen. If you don't see that little indicator, it doesn't seem like a DL is happening. It caught me out for a while until I noticed that small/little/wee/minute DL indicator.

On the far bottom RH corner of the screen there is a small button which allows you to open the DL page (an Edge page), and that shows all the recent DLs. There is also a link to take you to the long-existing Downloads window on the C:\ drive.

All the best.

Thanks - yes, I've just updated W10, but now since I posted I tried the same download link in MS Edge, and this worked, so I'm fine now thanks. Don'y know why it wouldn';t download in Chrome .....

Welcome back to the forum, Peter! We've missed your presence.

I'm not having problems downloading Vegas files in Chrome, but lately, Google has become really finicky about "what" it lets you download. Look closely at the bottom bar for message links, which aren't very obvious at all.

Hi Musicvid, good to hear from you.

I've finally managed to download V17, but now the next hassle.

It says I've exceeded the number of installations, even though I have only ever had V17 on ONE computer.

I guess I'll have to try and find Magix Support - can't believe how long it is taking to simply instal and use software I own, and I have bought every single version since VegasVideo 3 !

@PeterWright  ... try going on to My Products on your My Account and de-activate the current activations - there'll probably be the allowable two activations showing assuming you don't have 365 where only one activation is allowed. You should then be able to install and activate VP17.

Keep in mind that if VP17 has been installed on one computer and then you go to install on another computer, then that is 2 activations. Making matters worse is that installing an update can sometimes confuse the activation system into thinking that the update is actually yet another separate activation - it's happened to me a couple of times.

Please also make a special note of "section 9" in the FAQ I referred to above.

Yes, thanks vkmast. As I said, I've only ever had it on one computer, so I wasn't expecting any problems.
It's sorted itself out now though, so all's good again.

I'm glad you've got it sorted, and I hope you will stick around and share your knowledge once again.
