Cannot render in 2560x1440 - Vegas Movie 11

Hello, I am trying to render my video that I captured in 2560x1440 in the same resolution.

I have watched several videos on YouTube on how to do this however when I try to do it using the customize option when I type in 2560 into the first field it auto changes back to 1920 as soon as I select the next box in the video properties.

If I select "match media settings" it detects that the video is 2560x1440 but as soon as I click ok or apply it reverts back to 1920x1080.

Can someone please help me?

No version of Vegas 11 supports 4k. That's because it as released in 2012!

Download the latest trial and try it out.

I downloaded the Vegas Movie Studio 13 and I cannot see any option to render in 2k. I dont want to render it in 4k... As far as I know... 2560x1440 is 2k.

And see if this helps. Note that you should use the Platinum version of MS 13. The basic version is rather limited.

1. No resolutions between 1080 and 4k have been "left out." They're all still there! You are NOT LIMITED TO TEMPLATE RESOLUTIONS.

2. 2560 is too wide to be called 2k. A very quick Google will enable you to be sure of your numbers before asking.

3. All except the most expensive 4K teevees are 2560 wide, including my 50" Vizio. Doesn't look any better with Broadcast and Blu-ray than a 1080p, which run a couple hundred less.

Thanks for the replies guys!

I tried to customise the template and it allowed me to do this by selecting Sony AVC, then INTERNET from the drop down menu, then I selected Custom Resolution and it allowed me to enter my resolution of 2560 x 1440
.

However when I click to render it I get the Invalid argument warning, it doesn't say its because of the 2560x1440 setting but I seen this post which made me think it is - https://forums.creativecow.net/thread/24/984746

The reason I want to render in 2560x1440 is because this is the resolution my game footage is captured in. I am certainly no video editing expert so I would be more than happy to take some suggestions of resolutions I could try instead.

I just want it to look a little better than 1080p if possible!

Thanks again for your time!

From here (with regard to Vegas Pro 14 but probably also applies to Movie Studio 13):

SONY AVC/AAC ENCODER

  • The maximum resolution 1920 x 1080
  • The maximum frame rate is 59.940fps
  • The maximum bit rate is 25,999,360bps

MAINCONCEPT AVC/MVC ENCODER

  • The maximum resolution is 4096 x 2304*
  • The maximum frame rate is 172fps*
  • The maximum bit rates is 240,000,000bps

* Extreme combinations of high resolution & frame rate cause either "invalid argument" or low-memory failures but I was able to render 1920x1080@172fps and 4096x2160@59.94fps.
