Color curves oddity

stephen-broyles wrote on 3/29/2018, 6:15 PM

Am using Color Curves for the first time. I just noticed the presence of a small somewhat transparent rectangle (approx 20 by 30 pixels) near the left edge of the preview window, about 60% of the way up. Bizarre. It's dark and somewhat transparent. It's present when I choose any of the presets or my own customizations. Disappears, of course, when Color Curves is disabled. Movie Studio 14 build 148.

Try disabling hardware acceleration.

Acceleration is off. Someone else suggested fooling with split screen view but I have now gotten myself in trouble. I've never used it in my many years of Vegas. I don't want to use the preview fx feature. My fx are all on the track or the clips. Split screen "select all" bypasses all of my fx and now I see no change if I enable/disable my clip fx. How do I get split screen to select none?

Can you show us a screenshot of your preview? It's a pretty uncommon report. Have you been playing with cookie cutter or a mask?

Make sure the button is unactivated. Then it should work properly.

Gawd! Split Screen is a selector AND an on/off button. Without any graphic design hint! No indication that pressing it has caused a state change! And no documentation as to its function. Bad, bad, bad. Makes me feel I've failed the intelligence test. The Overlays button/selector, something I never use, has the same issue.

My UI is now back to normal behavior. The original problem I reported (weird little rectangle) is no longer present.

There is a need to make the state of some of the buttons more obvious. Glad you got it worked out.

A simple fix would be to offer "Off" in the drop down. NNTR

The hardly visible state change in most of those buttons was one of the most often criticized things of the MS 14 P GUI. Only MS 15 P changed that.

Download the Vegas Pro 15 manual to get the documentation on "Split Screen View". Search Split-screen previews there.

As this button was added to VMSP only as of v14, maybe they just forgot to add that chapter to online Help/ Manual.

@stephen-broyles the above despite NNTR, as v 14 will most likely not be updated any more.
