Creating Mono audio in Movie Studio 14.0

ap6629 wrote on 11/9/2020, 11:33 PM

I am trying to balance audio in a video but when I right click the audio track in the preview it has NO option of focusing the tracks left/right, or making it mono which is what I want to do. Why doesn't it have this feature? Where is it? I'm really frustrated by how so many little features are left out of this program. What is your problem. I am starting to really resent the people who made this software/

@ap6629 Right click on the audio clip on the timeline, select Channels and then take your pick. Left only or Right only creates a mono track from your selection. At least that is how it's done in VMS Plat 17 and I don't think it has changed from 14. BUT are you using the basic VMS14 or Platinum version? The basic version is somewhat restricted.

@EricLNZ is right. You need the Platinum version.

From VMSP Online Help(s): "Movie Studio Platinum allows you to perform audio channel conversion nondestructively. You can mix channels, convert to mono, or swap channels in a stereo file."

If at all possible, one should consider only the VMS Platinum version when purchasing a VMS. Testing with the free 30-day trial version is always recommended before purchasing.

That advice is worth its weight in gold.

A golden advice would be that Magix just stops releasing two versions of VMS, avoids a lot of confusions and disappointments.

@3POINT as you know we've been suggesting that to the manufacturer a few times during the last couple of years. My advice was for the potential customers.

Yes I know vkmast, I didn't disagree with your advice. But unfortunately the manufacturer seems to do nothing with those suggestions and leaves it up to the helping people on this forum to deal with the frustrations and disappointments caused by the "simple" version of VMS.

LOL maybe it's because users like me don't look at this forum until AFTER we shelled out for the basic version. When you do the comparison that is supposed to tell you all the differences, well...it tells you only some of the differences between basic and Platinum. But lesson learned, always going for Platinum going forward.
