I have been filming and editing videos since 2006 and this is the first ever software that has given me any problems , my laptop is top spec and only 6mths old, i have never had to go thro any kind of procedure as described in above reply from vkmast, and have tried the suggested fixes and it did not make one bit of difference, i now regret having spent £30 on this piece of useless edit software and will return to my Microsoft supplied app. And i received an email from the company in German which i couldn't read, so they have been useless.

Even a "bottom spec" machine should render in a fraction of the time you are experiencing. But without any info it is difficult to help you.

For a start what is your source material, render template used and are you applying any FX at clip or track level.

john-haddow wrote on 7/16/2018, 5:11 AM

Thank you for your reply Eric.

As an example one clip I filmed, time 32 secs long, format AVCHD mts, 50fps , to render and convert to mp4 with Studio 15  time showing over 30mins, I have not added any transitions/text/ graphics , that's when I stopped it rendering . Now I film soccer games so I may have 20-30 clips lasting no more than 60secs each at the most, so for my final movie  you can imagine that this could take days to render. I  have other editing software that would render and complete my movie in an hour max. I thought I would treat myself to some new editing software and saw their online site which boasted everything I needed but it has been a huge disappointment, and will now treat this as a lesson well learned and revert to my other software. I have been filming and editing since 2006 so be assured I have tried every option with this software  for the results I need.

Any chance of getting at least a sample file (see point C 3 in the linked "info required" thread) for others to test? Some other points from C might have helped, as per Eric's request.

EricLNZ wrote on 7/16/2018, 6:24 AM

I assume John you are shooting and rendering in 1080 so I would expect your render to take real time or less on a "top spec" machine. So something is very wrong. Which mp4 template are you using and are you utilising graphic processing? What do you have Intel, AMD...?

john-haddow wrote on 7/16/2018, 10:56 AM

This is an 11 second clip I have taken with my hd camera I use for filming , avchd 50 fps , Studio 15 takes 11mins + to render and make a movie clip to Internet HD 1080P 50FPS of this clip. This is the settings I have been using for years  filming and have had no problems with any of my edit software.

C 3: "A Sample File: Share a sample of your source footage on a cloud service such as Dropbox, Google Drive, OneDrive, mega.nz, wetransfer.com or mediafire.com, so others can test it. Do not upload it to the forum because it will be re-encoded."

john-haddow wrote on 7/16/2018, 2:27 PM

I do not use any cloud services as ive no need for them so I will not be sending the file there, I thank everyone for your replies to my posts, Its a problem with this software I don't need when others are working fine, AVC,NCH,MICROSOFT PHOTOS all do a fine movie, I just thought I would treat myself and just cant be bothered with it any more as I have been trying all its various formats since I got it and the only thing that works is when its at its lowest quality and even then its still slow. I have been asked by the Magix Team to try the 15 platinum version, but no thanks I do not wish to spend anymore money on something that might be the same. Thanks everyone. John

vkmast wrote on 7/16/2018, 2:36 PM

Testing with the 30-day time-limited trial version would not have cost you anything but time. And for a possible refund, read the link from here.

john-haddow wrote on 7/16/2018, 3:05 PM

I thank you for your reply, its not about the money and your link looks helpful but id rather have it working as advertised and I will just be treating this as a lesson learned,  I have been trying every format since my purchase and am just fed up looking at its screen now trying to resolve this. I don't  want to try any other versions of Studio 15 cause if they work then that's another purchase, which I don't really need. Thanks everyone John.

You see, processing video with complex (wavy) motion takes longer to render because you are running at or near the maximum allowable bitrate for long stretches.

To test this, shoot a talking head against a static backgroundxactly the same, set up the same project, don't add any effects, and render the same way. Compare your times.

It seems unfortunate that you are unwilling to share the Section C information or a source sample. That limits our usefulness, as peer support, to what you have seen above, and I must mention that Magix Technical Support will require all of that information, plus some, to troubleshoot your observations.

So although your render time may seem slow, it is not abnormal if you will not follow the guide linked above. Best of luck.

john-haddow wrote on 7/17/2018, 5:15 AM

I can assure you it is abnormal, i even tried rendering an 11 sec mp4 phone camera clip, this one clip took over 11+mins to render to a movie, so the Studio 15 didn't even have to render it from AVCHD. I have been filming and editing movies and using various software since 2006, and Studio 15 is by far the slowest I have ever used . I am sorry you have found it unfortunate I am unwilling to share my clips but I do not use any cloud services I have never had the need too, and to be honest I don't see why I should as I have never with any software had to before. I thank you and everyone for your posts but will repeat my previous post and tell you I have tried everything and every format on this software to quicken my movie rendering and it makes little difference to the time in producing a movie. I am aware that perhaps the Platinum version maybe the solution to this, but I have other software that I use that completes my work in a tenth of the time with excellent results, and my purchase of Studio 15 was a wee treat to myself that I didn't really need, so no harm done. My youtube channel is called sineys have a wee look if you wish to see what my other software produces, its slightly basic but the reason for the Studio 15 was to take my movie up a level in their finished production. Thanks John.

Musicvid wrote on 7/17/2018, 2:25 PM

"Abnormal." Compared to what?

Rule #1 of Troubleshooting: Recreate the problem from source.

Rule #2: When in doubt, refer to Rule #1.

Your missive about cloud sharing completely circumvents the rest of the data requested from Section C of this link, so thoughtfully provided before by vkmast.

https://www.vegascreativesoftware.info/us/forum/important-information-required-to-help-you--110457/

So without that data, you are pretty much on your own going forward for either Peer or Technical Troubleshooting Support. Please, we don't need the reasons. Best of luck.

john-haddow wrote on 7/17/2018, 2:49 PM

I have been very thankfull of everyone that has suggested a solution, if you think that a 11sec clip taking 11+mins to render is not abnormal well i regularly render 20+min clips so work that out and say its normal, I will repeat I don't need any cloud or use any cloud source, I don't know what your problem is with that but it is my choice , I have posted a clip above , I have explained how long it took to render, I have tried everything , I don't need any more long days/nights trying to render a short movie, if not one person is going to admit that the Studio 15 has issues and it has, then fair enough. And I posted my reasons for purchasing the software if you don't like that then tough, i came on here not to be lectured by you , i have been filming and editing for a long time and never had the problems that i have encountered with this software. I will now leave this forum and not reply or post again i thank everyone that has answered my posts and i will continue with other software that takes a shorter time and just as good. Yours John.

Musicvid wrote on 7/17/2018, 6:56 PM

Yes I think you should find an alternative to the disappointment you are experiencing.

I can make a, 25 second clip take a lot longer than 11 minutes to render with even one properties mismatch, a 99% opacity, just a couple of generated effects on the timeline, or insane bitrate, and that is 100% normal. Do let us know what NLE you eventually settle on. There is a learning curve associated with Vegas that is unlike the freeware editing software you mentioned, although I have never heard of an editor named "AVC."

Just to let you know , I have recently purchased for the same price as Studio 15, Movavi Video Editor and have absolutely no problems with it of any kind. Totally superior to Studio in all departments its quick, easy and perfect for my needs, just what I was looking for from Studio 15. And b4 anyone says , I have downloaded the recent fix for studio 15 it made no difference to my version at all. So thanks everyone for all your suggestions , my problems are now resolved with Movavi.
