Help getting started

I am trying to learn how to use VEGAS Movie Studio 15 and think I have my first rendering running. It is running at a much slower pace than I would like though. It may come out to over an hour's worth of video--of 2 of my children performing in a school band concert--and I'd like to make sure that this rendering will fit onto a standard DVD. I'd like to talk to someone about how this software works and would prefer to use the phone, but I am also willing to communicate via online chat or e-mail. I'll be grateful for any responses to help get me on board with this community. Sincerely, Jennifer from Mt. Airy, MD USA jlgkitten@comcast.net

Here are a few of the resources already available to you:

Interactive Tutorials, Help, and What's This? in your Vegas program.

Books by Steve Grisetti on Amazon.

Search feature on this forum.

Forum user Set's amazing compilation of video tutorials. Although many say for Vegas Pro, they are relevant to your version. https://www.vegascreativesoftware.info/us/forum/vegas-pro-tutorials--103245/

Personal tutelage, when folks have the time, is only efficient with learning specific techniques, not "how does this program work?"

Welcome to the forums, and feel free to ask specific questions when there are still roadblocks after searching the resources.

To help you get started, here are the right directions to make a DVD using Vegas and Arcitect. Best way to learn it is get your hands dirty and make LOTS of really good mistakes! Plan on turning out a few coasters at first.

If you live in a populated area, look for 1:1 editing instructors on Craigslist, that you may find not too expensive.

Plan on turning out a few coasters at first.

To minimize this get a few Re-Writable (DVD RW) blank discs while you're learning :)

Or just render to a DVD folder or ISO, both of which are playable on home entertainment systems with many media players. I still end up with coasters...
