HELP MY VEGAS FREEZES EVEN BEFORE RENDERING

dick-t wrote on 1/1/2020, 8:23 AM

I've just finished editing my video on the new sony vegas 17 and when i clicked "render as" my laptop starts loading. At first i thought it needed some time but it took hours and then i realized that my software was "not responding". I've changed the project settings and preferences thousand times but nothing seems to be working.

I'm currently using a 960M laptop with an intel quad core i7. I've used the same pc to render videos on sony vegas 13 in the past and there was no problem. help me pls cuz the project file cant open on sony vegas 13 :(

Vegas 17 is a Magix product, not Sony.

In the meantime, try temporarily turning off GPU Acceleration of Video Processing. Same thing happened on my new Intel.

hmm I've done that but still no difference tho

After a "render to" action you have to choose a
- format, which one did you?
- template, which?
Did you customize that template and if yess which one?
What are your computer specs for
- processor( CPU)
- GPU
- location of sourcefiles and the "render to" location?

Well, here's the thing. When I clicked "render as" my pc becomes not responsive so I cant select any render format and if u're looking for my project settings it's up there.

my pc uses a 6th gen intel i7 and a nvidia 960M 4gb which is mentioned up there. it also has a 16gb ram ddr4 just in case it affects anything.

i'll just uninstall and reinstall the software to see if this works. if it doesnt i guess i'll revert back to vegas 13

Your hardware seems to be OK.
Maybe a reset of Vegas 17 is better and easier to try first.
What is your Operating System?

It's Windows.

right...by uninstalling and reinstalling it into the c drive (which i previously installed it in my d drive cuz my c drive is low on space) kinda solved a portion of the problem. the vegas 17 is now capable of rendering a 10s sample text which is a huge step up considering it couldn't do that before. but when i try to render my main video it goes not responsive again. i also realized that when i end task the 10s sample text file vegas pops up to ask me whats the problem like a bugsplat. but when i end my main file it doesnt ask me. now i'm starting to wonder whether my vegas file is the real problem...

*edit*

i cant even render the first 10s of my main video

Windows version (7/8/10)? If it's 10 (1803/1809/1903/1909)? VEGAS Pro 17 build number (see Help/About/General)? And did you try a reset that was suggested?

dick-t wrote on 1/2/2020, 6:15 AM

Windows 10 1809. Vegas pro build 284.

it seems that i have another issue popping up after solving my rendering problem (i guess).... my veg file has some sort of problem and my vegas 17 cant render it even if the entire video is only 2 seconds long. if i open vegas 17 and start a brand new project from scratch it can render the same footage and even if i copy and paste the same footage to up to 2 hrs long the software has no problem rendering it. it seems that my veg file has this problem now.... anyone has a clue on this bug?

vkmast wrote on 1/2/2020, 6:44 AM

Build 284 was an early build of VEGAS Pro 17. Try updating to build 353 first. Link here section 6.

dick-t wrote on 1/2/2020, 8:12 AM

Well, i've solved my rendering problem by simply deleting almost everything until it allows me to render then i undo all of the deleted footage. it's a very dumb solution but it's working so i'll take it.

anyways, thanks to everyone who helped me. 🙃

Another way around it is to open a new project, drop one piece of media on the timeline, load the render as dialog, then close it (but not Vegas) and open your project, then render it.

This bug seems to be related to complex projects that have a lot of media on the timeline.
