How to remove the timecode?

Bajker wrote on 2/4/2005, 8:11 AM
I somehow added the timecode display to my video tracks (not Options-->Preferences-->Video) but mediaFX, and somehow can' remove it.
It was ment only for a subclip on a separate track, but after deleting that track, it' all over the project. I can't find the fx in any window, on any clip.
How do I get rid of it?

Open Edit Details window, you should be able to see where the Timecode FX is at. If it's on everything, it's likely in your preview window though. Have you looked at your master FX?

Nothing in Edit Details window. Timecode is on rendered video too.
Master FX???

Yeah, look at the preview window and you should see an FX button
clink it and remove the unneeded fx. It's the master fx button. It adds FX to the whole project.
Hope this helps.

Oh yeah, you will have to remove the effect and render again.

Believe me I'm doing my best...
Nothing to remove.
It says no plugins in chain.
Can I send you a 15 KB .veg file somehow?

Hi! I know this thread is 12 years ago. But I just want to help just in case someone will experience this hardship like I did, haha. I spent like around 30 minutes figuring out what really happened! Well, I didn't know how the effects were put but here's how you can remove it. :D

First thing to do is right click on the media on the timeline and click "Select in the Project Media list".

The media will be highlighted on the Project Media window. Click the Media FX... button on that same window...

and remove the Timecode effects.

I hope this helps. Thank you and have a nice day everyone!

You need to know how the effects were put. Look for the relevant green FX button. Read the online Help item on "Adding (or Applying) video effects."

Thanks! Yeah, what I meant was how the effects were put when I didn't intentionally add them. For sure I accidentally clicked some shortcuts that I was not aware of so it happened, hehe. Yeah, it's that green FX button that has it all. Just know the right window because there are lots of green fx icon on the entire workplace.

Just for future reference if you ever decide to put time code onto your project: put it onto a separate track and make the background transparent. That way you can remove it simply by muting the track.

What I have done is add the inbuilt timecode scripts to my toolbar....

Options > customize toolbar > remove timecode to all media > add > OK

Options > customize toolbar > add timecode to all media > add > OK

This will make them appear in your toolbar, simply click on and off as needed. Best of both worlds!
