One different of steam edition will be unable to run multiple instances of Vegas Pro. - Although it's said there are workaround way for this limitation... but not sure. (For Steam edition, I only have VP14)

The Steam version only EDIT version, and you are required to have Steam host installed in your pc.

 

While here you can choose between EDIT version, 'Standard' version, 365 subscription editon, or Pro Suite.

Even more, a VEGAS Post Suite for more enhanced graphic workflow.

 

As long as you feel the Vegas Pro 18 EDIT version is sufficient, and just Solo-editor working in one PC... Steam and 'normal' version are the same.

Note also this regarding upgrading: "Steam customers do not have a serial number for the MAGIX account. So, they need to check if an upgrade is available in the Steam Store or contact MAGIX Customer Service (infoservice@magix.net) to receive a personal upgrade offer."
