Installing Vegas Pro 12 and DVDA in new computer - Dolby

DMT3 wrote on 12/11/2022, 9:20 PM

I am upgrading to a newer computer for my daily computer. I currently have Vegas Pro 12 and 19 installed and DVDA 5.2. If I install on a new computer, will the Dolby Stereo/5.1/ etc be installed as well? I know later versions aren't licensed, but I didn't know if an install of an older version would include the license, or if it will not be allowed by the registration process. Thanks for any help or suggestions.

The following are the AC-3 choices in Vegas Pro 20:

There is a workaround to get AC-3 Pro from Vegas Pro 13 (not sure about VP12) to work in VP14-16 as per item 31 in:

https://www.vegascreativesoftware.info/us/forum/vegas-pro-faqs-and-troubleshooting-guides--104787/

... but that was closed off in VP17 and later so that workaround does not work in VP17+.

Some are using Voukoder or Happy Otter Scripts to get 5.1 surround sound in recent VP versions.

Dolby AC-3 is part of DVD Architect 5.2 installation. That done, it should be available in VP12.

Just as a FYI, you may come across this: "Older versions of Vegas Pro than 14.0 are licensed under a system (as previously used by Sony) which permits use on multiple computers by one user; after an unspecified number of installations on different or updated PCs you may need to contact support to reset your "installation count"."
