Persistent error when rendering video

ClausB-Mortensen wrote on 5/30/2021, 2:39 PM

I am getting an error when rendering video projects. I have had this problem with several videos since upgrading to PRO: An error occurred while creating the media file. Error 0x80131501 (message missing).

I have tried restarting the PC, un-ticking GPU accelleration, resetting back to default values and deleting the cache, reinstalling quicktime, updating the program and drivers - nothing helps!

The projects so far have been very simple - just one video file with simple edits - no effects, no added text. I have resorted to redoing some of the projects in Movie Studio, which has no problems whatsoever rendering the videos.

Programs used: Vegas Pro 18 and Movie Studio 17.

Here you go:

No other GPU?
Which processor do you use?
Are the settings at File/I/O the default settings?
Sourcefiles?

No other GPU.

I'm using an i7-4790 CPU.

Default settings.

The only source file is an mp4 recorded from MS Teams.

Seems I'm not the only one with this problem as I found this video on youtube:

The work-around he's using also works for me.

So... even though there is a work-around, this is far from the ideal work-flow. Does anyone from the Vegas team know a solution?

Please see this interesting thread https://www.vegascreativesoftware.info/us/forum/error-code-0x80131501--126955/

(Note that the "video on youtube" is from user TheBlackFox who is posting in that thread and branding the software on YouTube incorrectly as "Sony Vegas Pro".

(See also this thread.)

Thanks for your reply.

I just tried running as administrator and it still doesn't work. Looking at the other thread that you refer to, are you suggesting that I somehow replace RenderAsDialog.dll with an older version? The only other version I have available on my PC is the one from Movie Studio and I doubt that will work.

For testing, can you upload a short actual sample of your MS Teams video to Drive or Dropbox? Not Youtube.

You might want to Ask Support then. Please see here.
