Preview fail on vidcap60.exe using NVIDIA

WARREN-REDHEAD wrote on 8/7/2020, 11:30 PM

Hello,

When I run vidcap60.exe using windows video driver, the preview window functions normally. When I run the most recent NVIDIA video driver for my GTX 1050 the preview flicks to black before during and after the DV capture. Oddly, the previw comes on when I slide the preview across the two monitors however it errors if I try to capture the DV when it's in this position. I gather then, the preview is tied in some way to the video driver. It also fails to preview if I run windows with just one monitor plugged in. The image does appear for a millisecind if I click between Capture and Advanced Capture tabs.

The analog capture is feeding through a Canopus 110 via 1394 port onto W10 Pro64-bit built 19041 with 8GB RAM.

Does anyone have ideas on how to configure Windows, NVIDIA or MAGIX software to resolve issue?

PS: The Menue list just below the title bar also fails to render regardless of driver. However it will draw the menu when the mouse pointer is run over the area.

Try disabling GPU Acceleration of Video Processing.

Thank you Musicvid. If in the mean, in the NVIDIA control panel to change PhysX settings from GPU to CPU, then that's a fail. This is the only setting I could finds related to acceleration of any sort. Or, if you mean the Microsoft HW Acceleration slider via the Display Settings, the Troubleshoot tab is absent, so no slider to access. Do you have a more precise direction if I'm off course? Windows is as up to date as possible.

No, the setting is in Vegas Preferences.

Thanks you again for taking the time with such a quick response. Unfortunately my settings were already in that mode. See attached.  Further, do some preferences in the Movie Studio program affect the functionality of the Capture program even though they can run independently?  From its look and feel and lack of updates, I felt it was a third party program.  If yes to the preferences question, does that mean the Movie Studio can dictate the Capture program file recording format?

Actually, you're correct. I think I may have confused two different posts. Happens more lately.

I assume you are familiar with this menu?

Thank you, yes.  I seem to have found a work around thanks to using two monitors.  Since the video will preview when the window sits across the two screens, I watch it and wait for the moment I want to press Capture.  Then move the window over to one monitor, press Capture, than slide the window back to watch the feed.  Then just before I finish recording, I slide the window back to one side and press stop.  If I try to record or stop the capture across the two screens I get an error.

It’s a bit of a bother but it works. Thanks for your suggestions. Over and Out.

Late into this, it's Oct, but I have the same issue. One monitor, so Warren's solution does not apply. Seems that out of thousands of users this has a better solution. Also, Magix Video Pro X Does not have this problem.

@Stephen-Pohl

Please start your own thread with your own description and list your own hardware, thanks!

You have given us no indication whatsoever that you have the "same issue." Best to let us determine that.

Sorry. I guess it was mostly a comment. Anyhow, I did start a new thread. "no preview during capture"

vkmast wrote on 10/23/2020, 6:33 PM

@Stephen-Pohl do you mean this thread from 2009? https://www.vegascreativesoftware.info/us/forum/no-preview-during-capture-64bit--73725/

Stephen-Pohl wrote on 10/23/2020, 6:56 PM

Didn't know that one existed, but it seems I have the same issue as from 11 years ago. No solution from that thread, so I'll wait and see and do some more looking. Thanks

 Anyhow, I did start a new thread. "no preview during capture"

If you started a new thread on this now, I cannot find that thread.

@Stephen-Pohl

Edit: It's here now.

Hello Again. Just a final comment as the issue remains. I was able to obtain a small LCD TV with RCA inputs. I utilised the Canopus RCA output directly to the TV. This meant no reliance on the PC preview window at all. Happy days. Over and out.😉
