Preview screen grid bug?

rraud wrote on 1/25/2019, 12:39 PM

VP-16, build 261, PC: Win 10, 32GB RAM

Preview screen grid:
When I hide the grid (or safe area grid) it disappears as it should, however when I click the preview screen's 'grid' toolbar icon to display it again, the grid does not reappear. I must close and re-open the preview screen to bring it back. It makes no difference as to what resolution the preview is set to. Does anyone else experience this behavior? Bug? Setting? Thanks
As I recall, this behavior was the same in the previous VP-16 build.

Works fine here in Vegas Pro 16 Build 352

Build 261 or 361? 361 seems OK here. Only the closed captioning options show which one is selected though. In my VP 15 b 384 all options in the menu show that.

Thanks for the responses, Build 361, not 261 (typo) Not using any CC.
Strange.. file type does not make a difference. I'll try different settings and such in an attempt to find cause. Screen shots below:* With grid, (normal) w/o grid (normal) and with grid re-selected. Icon shows grid selected but does not display grid. As I stated, if I close and reopen the preview, it displays the grid as it should, * Screen shot will not upload...

Does the grid come back if you minimize to tray and then recall the application window?

No, only if I close and re-open the Preview with the grid icon selected. Same behavior if I close VP and start over with a new or different project.

What happens if you use the default windows layout and a single video track?

, No change. Even tried some different formats (and codecs) with and w/o audio, (MXF, MPG, AVI, MOV, MP4), Thanks

I bet you've found a recent species of bug. No issue in VP14.

One thing you "might" try is your graphics accelerator mode. Some of them expose hw/sw acceleration methods.

I also notice that after I re-select the 'show grid', the picture stays on the frame prior to the grid being selected. The timeline though shows normal transport and audio playback. When I close and reopen the preview window, it's back to normal.

Good clue MV. "One thing you "might" try is your graphics accelerator mode" Thanks Mark!

Solved .. In 'Options> Preferences> Video', changing the "GPU acceleration of video processing" setting from 'Nvidia Gforce' to 'Intel HD' fixed it. Setting GPU acceleration to "Off" resulted in no preview picture at all''. I'm not sure what's that's about but at least it works now. I just hope it does not have a negative affect on rendering, which I will try ASAP.
