To add to Roger's comment, the vast majority of video out there today is 8 bit, so if you aren't sure if you have 10 bit or higher video, there's a very, very good chance that it is 8 bit. You do not want to work on 8 bit video in 32 bit mode, as it is much slower and you don't get any added benefit.

You may have added an effect at the Media, Event, Track, or Preview level and not removed it. Until you're familiar with those four locations, your best bet is to start a new Project, and add your media again.
Let's have you perform a program reset to default settings: 1. Hold down Ctrl+Shift while double clicking on the program icon to open the program 2. Continue holding down until you see a small window appear 3. Make sure to check the box for "delete all cached application data" 4. Click yes and reopen the program It worked!
