Rendering Problem!

Max-Salsbury wrote on 10/1/2020, 3:41 AM

Hi everybody - gotta a seriously abysmal problem so really hoping someone can help!

I've been running Vegas Pro 16 since purchasing it in November 2018. Last week I got a new laptop and downloaded Pro 16 onto that, using the serial I had already purchased, which Magix told me I'm permitted to do. And everything works fine, except! When rendering, at some random stage (though it never really gets very far) I get a box pop saying ' Vegas Pro has stopped working blah blah blah'. Never had this issue on the old laptop.

I always render as MAGIX AVC/ACC MP4 at Internet HD 720p 25fps.

Interestingly, I seem to be able to render short videos (around 3-5 mins) no problem. Many vids I do can be anything between 45 mins and 5 hours. Once again, no problems on the old laptop.

The new laptop is Win10, 16gb RAM, I7, and it absolutely flies! Very similar to old laptop, which is Win10, 8gb, I7.

Has anyone any ideas? I've a massive backlog of vids building up!

Many thanks for any help in advance.

All the best

Max

Just to be on the safe side:
The hard drive will not be full or will have several partitions where the one with the intended storage location is too small?

Hi Walter, nah, it's brand new and says I have 499gb free on the SSD. Thanks

@Max-Salsbury Hi Max, I understand that the trial version can only render out say a 2 minute clip. I know its a long shot. Maybe log into your Magix account and check that you’re not running a trial version. This is unlikely because your using the purchased serial no. which allows 2 machine installs.

Any problem description/details besides "blah blah blah", e.g. Fault module: kernelbase.dll?

Max-Salsbury wrote on 10/1/2020, 9:53 AM

Hi JN. I defo entered the serial when I installed but logged in and checked anyway. All seems to be ok. Cheers.

"BLAH, BLAH, BLAH" says your Nvidia Open GL module is not functioning correctly. Try updating or reinstalling your video drivers, possibly resetting or reinstalling Vegas, disabling GPU rendering in Vegas, or searching the internet for nvoglv64.dll solutions. Nvidia 10xx graphics versions do not always support hardware rendering completely, although I suppose yours is newer.

Do you now see how sharing the details of error messages is actually important?

@Musicvid
I believe I missed this: "BLAH, BLAH, BLAH" says your Nvidia Open GL module is not functioning correctly"

Where do you see the OP has a Nvidia?

Hi Musicvid, many thanks! Excellent, I'll have a look into this. The laptop was brand new out the box this week so will look into drivers and it is defo an NVIDIA card. And certainly I see the value of sharing the error messages! Guess I thought (hoped) it was some kind of common issue that there was an easy fix for. All the best.

Musicvid wrote on 10/2/2020, 8:40 AM

@Max-Salsbury No problemo. Actually I've never seen that one before. It only identifies the fault module, treating it is just guesswork for me at this point.

@j-v Read the line that says "Fault Module" and type the name of the library into a Google search. At least that's what I did.

Another quick one, Musicvid (or anyone else that might be able to help): I installed Vegas 16 on my new machine from the original install package I downloaded onto my old laptop 2 years ago - I simply moved it across on a hard drive. I did that because I couldn't find Vegas 16 on the Magix website, finally figuring they'd taken it off. Am I being incredibly silly? Is 16 lurking somewhere on the site and should I be downloading that?

Cheers

Log in to your Magix account and you should be able to download it.

Ha, according to my account I only have the trial version! Tried to register the serial (which I'm adamant I did 2 years ago) and it says it's already registered! I'm thinking I should buy the upgrade to 19 pro and be done with it. Thanks for everyone's help! Have a lovely weekend

Un-register and register anew.

Max-Salsbury wrote on 10/6/2020, 3:21 AM

Hi everyone. This is now fixed, many thanks for all your help. It was a driver issue: I rolled the graphics card's driver back twice and it worked!

The laptop was brand new so why it had a history of drivers is a mystery but what do I know? Clearly not much!

Thanks again.
