vegas 17 doesn't generate autofiles even though I tried to set it up

csak7 wrote on 11/13/2022, 10:22 AM

Hi everyone, any input here would be appreciated, because this drives me bonkers. I set up frequent autosaves for sony vegas, but since I did this, not only can I not find restorable .bak files anywhere, but vegas doesn't even offer to restore my previous project when I open it. This is an issue because my slow-ish computer crashes quite a bit when using Vegas.

My settings look like this:

In my temporary folder on my C-drive, which is the default "Projects Folder Path" of Vegas, the last .bak file is from a month ago or so. (the hidden folders and files are set to be revealed on my computer).

Also in the folder where I saved my project, there is only one .bak file, and when I tried opening it, it was just an empty vegas project.

Really not sure what I'm doing wrong.

Any input would be highly appreciated, thank you!

"sony vegas?" Maybe that's part of the problem.

Or maybe you are not looking in your Vegas Temporary File Folder. It is not the same as your Project Folder Path.

@csak7
Did you try the function in the program to arrange that all?
In Vegas 17 go to menu Tools/Advanced Save...and make all your desired settings there.

Here is a screenshot of my current settings, and what I see in that folder. The latest autosave file is from October 23, and I just worked all day on a project yesterday (November 13) and there is nothing. So something is messed up...

Yess, you did not choose any option and therefore the "Advanced Save" is not working, only the old autosave

@Jack S thanks, that comment now edited by a moderator. The Community rules have been partly updated recently including some revision in Rule 1. (The new rule "4. Media" applies only to to magix.info forums and the last paragraph in Rule 7 needs to be confirmed. I'd recommend still using "Report".)
