VMS17 - problem importing videos

greg-w wrote on 3/19/2021, 8:05 PM

I’m new to Vegas studio 11 and I have a good AVI file and it copies fine onto the video line, however when I play it back there are always 1 or 2 places where the video goes black for 2 or 3 seconds and then plays fine, I have windows 10, any help on resolving this would be much appreciated

That's a pretty old version of the program, greg! And one not nearly as versatile with editing different video formats as the current versions.

Where did this AVI come from? Was it capture over FireWire from a miniDV camcorder?

One of the challenges of working with AVIs is that the AVI format is merely a package. Inside can be video compressed of any of thousands of codecs, resolutions, frame rates and other compression systems. Unless you know exactly what type of AVI you're working with, you allow all kinds of variables to creep in.

If this is not miniDV video captured by Movie Studio over a FireWire (not USB) connection, we may need you to post a MediaInfo report on the AVI so we can determine what factors might be causing your issue.

Ok I upgraded to movie studio 17 but now I can’t put anything on the video line, I’ve already updated my codec, any ideas on this new problem
