VMS17 problem with video colour

Anthony-Lange wrote on 7/17/2020, 6:16 AM

I have been on with this problem, I have now had and paid for tech people to check my laptop. all is ok and they tried to get it to work, the yellows are blue and other colours are not correct. I have used the Magix program to check my laptop, I have uninstalled the program and reinstalled it, still the same, there is a definite problem with this program of which I have paid for. I have not been offered a different latest program that works and so I would not recommend this program since it has been taken over by the new company, the old Sony Movie Studio worked fine under the Sony trade-name. So to sum it up, , I have paid for a faulty program, paid to have a tech IT check my laptop, and yet they want me now to pay for a PC Check and Tune program, will that work or be faulty as well??? This must be the only video maker program that I have tried that can't get the colours right!!

The problem appears unique to you as, to my knowledge, no one else has had this experience.

What material appears incorrectly and does it appear correctly in players such as Windows Media Player?

EricLNZ wrote on 7/17/2020, 7:19 AM

I've just realised you've already posted several times previously about this but haven't provided any of the info requested.

Do you really want help sorting out your problem or just want to moan. If you want help go back to your earlier posts please and provide info. Then someone may be able to help you.

I've used Sony and Magix versions from 12 through to 17 and have never encountered your problem.

It may be a problem for just me, but 4 IT guys could not get the right colours, they had it for a couple of days, I've paid twice now and still not working. They tried a couple of other program they have used and they were ok, I have seen a couple of others had, not the same but similar problems. My other old computer works with the colour, but freezes after a while loading to the timeline.

That's not quite the info requested.

Anthony-Lange wrote on 7/17/2020, 7:58 AM

Yes it works great in Windows Media Player, and in sony 13 and what ever format I use,but colours incorrect in preview and I tried a short movie completing the movie, taking it to make a DVD and the colour is still incorrect. Is that what you wanted ??

I wonder if it's a simple problem of GPU drivers needing updating. But until Anthony provides some info and we can start digging we'll never solve it.

I would have thought 4 tech guys would have tried that, I am not familiar with what yo do, I don't wish to spend more money with no result.

EricLNZ wrote on 7/17/2020, 10:26 PM

It doesn't involve spending money. Post your system specs including what GPU you have and one of the forum members who have experience in that area should be able to advise you. Also you are using Windows 10?

i have 2 photos that I could send you, one before adding to timeline and one after, taken from preview but I can't see where I can paste it to you. Tony.

this video I am making is equipment I have designed and built for loading firefighting aircraft and training aids for volunteers in South Australia. I have done quite a few training videos before on MS13,

Anthony, I hope you can find someone who can sit with you at your computer and help you follow the exact instructions previously given you. Without that help, there is little use I can see in pursuing a discussion to which both sides are blind to the necessary facts.

The Vegas File Properties and MediaInfo Properties involve specific instructions that will not be of use unless they are followed to the letter. I'm sure, you being a firefighter, that procedure and protocol are not everything, they are the only thing.

In the meantime, I also suggest you load your media into a brand new Vegas Project, where you may actually discover why the Red Channel is completely missing from your output. Best.

I posted the link, along with several other volunteers, to which you seem oblivious. I won't do it a third time.

Ok, it looks like 17 is out and I need to go back 13, if I can get a key that works as it didn't accept the one I used after going to my new laptop, I am only offered a trial period. I have had 4 techs on this and I think I'm done.

I am 75 and retired, I guess my systems must have been good, no one has had a problem with my changes and they all came through over the last 10 years of operations being put to the limit.

I will try one more time to get a working key for 13. Bye, bye. Tony

@Anthony-Lange

Your MS13 key should have been migrated from your old Sony Creative Software account to your Magix one so check there https://www.magix.com/us/support/my-service-center/ If that doesn't work try your old SCS account https://www.sonycreativesoftware.com/myaccount/home

I was hoping that while us in the Southern Hemisphere slept someone up North would have come in with driver advice as it's above my expertise. Oh, I'm a few years older than you. Anyway try this as a last attempt - In MS17 go to Options/Preferences and the File I/O tab and if the first two items are ticked, untick them. See if that makes any differences. You could also try unticking "GPU acceleration of video processing" in the Video tab. These are from VMS17 Platinum. I'm not sure if they apply to the basic version if that's what you have.

I will install it again and try, if it was a colour, like (reds), why are all of my photo colours good? I have now read the tech's report and it appears they tried correction to colour.

I am now waiting for a key to come through as promised by activation, it' taking a while.

Anthony-Lange wrote on 7/18/2020, 10:44 PM

i TRIED MY OLD KEY FOR 13, IS NOT CORRECT.

EricLNZ wrote on 7/18/2020, 11:42 PM

Your key came from SCS? Are you trying it with your original MS13 download file or a more recent download? If a more recent download perhaps it's the Magix rebranded version that you are trying to activate. If so we need to find for you the link to download your original SCS version.

Anthony-Lange wrote on 7/19/2020, 1:18 AM

I downloaded 13 onto my new laptop when I was offered this reduced cost version of 17, now I have gone back to 13 it wan't me to reactivate the program, I have been out walking so I still need to download 17 to try your latest ideas, but I put my sn in for 13 and no key has come back yet. Thanks for your help. Tony

Anthony-Lange wrote on 7/19/2020, 2:21 AM

made those changes, still the same, will try to get 13 working again.
