Way OT: Final Jeopardy

@vkmast

I trust you watched the Tournament of Champions, and Trebek's crowning testament.

One of my former students was on Jeopardy about 3-1/2 years ago, and ended up doing exactly the same thing that James did in the tournament finale -- bet it all on Final Jeopardy when he didn't need to, and lost to another contestant who bet Ø.

Guess maybe it's time to email him and forgive him -- again.

@Musicvid "not available" in my neck of the woods, but I seem to recall a previous discussion 🙂.

Oh, Alex Trebek, the Jeopardy host for 36 years on Americas's longest running TV show, has terminal cancer, and as his finale, brought the three all-time champions back for a three-show tournament. The winner, Ken Jennings, took home a cool $1M. It was a happy conclusion to a sad outcome for millions of trivia fans in the US and Canada, Alex's birthplace. He was also a professional hockey player in younger years.

The final Jeopardy answer was, “He has 272 speeches, the most of any non-title character in a Shakespeare tragedy," The winning questions was,  “Who is Iago?” (the contestants must supply the correct question).

James Holzhauser, the presumed leader, bet the farm on the last question and lost to Ken Jennings, who bet Ø. That re-triggered my old story about a student who had done the same thing on the show in 2016, and went home empty-handed instead of winning $15,600, which he sorely needed as a husband / bartender.

And someday, I'm going to learn to spell Jeopardy right.
