When I open Movie Studio it starts with 5 blank tracks

I hope this is the correct forum for my question.
When I open Movie Studio it starts with 5 blank  tracks on the timeline. Text , Picture in Picture , Video , Audio , Music.

I rarely use features such as Text , PIP , Music and would like to remove them from startup as they take up space on my monitor. How can I do this ?

@david-h9346 This is the default window layout for Movie Studio Platinum. The only way you can achieve what you want is to delete the tracks you don't want, then save you layout using 'View/Window Layouts/Save Layout As...'. At the prompt, give it a meaningful name and select a shortcut key.
When you launch MSP, you can then use the shortcut to change the layout to your desired one.

Jack , thankyou for your reply. I have already tried that but when I next opened the programme and switched layouts the default tracks were there again

@david-h9346 That's something I didn't know. The term 'Window Layout' obviously means the way all the various windows are arranged. Sorry about that. I've just tried this way and it's a sort of workaround.
Delete the tracks you don't need. Save the project with a default name, say 'My layout'. When you re-launch MSP, load in that project.

Vegas Pro, on the other hand, always launches with no tracks.

You could just rename the new project icon "Vegas" and open the application from there.

Thanks for your input guys. It seems your suggestion is my best option even if it isn't ideal.
Thanks again.

@david-h9346

There's a good chance you'll see a late-winter upgrade deal for Vegas Pro, which may be a better fit for you.

Also keep your eye on Steam and Humble Bundle for discounted versions.

I doubt that I'll be taking advantage of any update deal. If my previous experience of so called software "updates" is anything to go by it is unlikely to improve things , rather it will remove or hide features I have just got familiar with.
If it ain't broke , don't fix it , that's my motto :)

Just to clarify some of the related terms used by MAGIX/VEGAS (and previously SCS/Sony as well), please note that updates (to a newer build of a version) are free and upgrades (to a newer version) are not.
