It's probably easier in pan crop with magnetism on (meaning resizing clicking into place at set intervals) which makes it easy to do things like arrange 4 clips 1 in each corner at equal size.

In Event Pan/Crop, click Masking and move the X-position.

That's all there is to it, without even a little mumbo-jumbo.

Brilliant, took me a while. After the mask is set, in pan crop select “position”, not mask, then the object can be moved around in x or y space. Then the best, to make the object appear smaller or larger, while still in “position” mode just select a corner of the outer dotted rectangle (canvas) and move it in or out.

And to think that I thought you were only good with colours!
