You can paste your events and maybe lose some effects. You can't open your new project in an older version.

Can't get it to run... did copy and paste of the timeline to 15 and worked like a charm. It should do the same with 17 without having to do major problem solving. Remember it's promoted as a "starter" editor program.

Anything in the System requirements that might explain your issues? I have a copy of VMSP 17 on a laptop that barely meets the requirements and it's running considerably better than v.15.

My system is pretty kick ass... order it for video editing, one year old. GForce RTX 2060 ... I9 Pros... etc, all good on specs. It RUNS fine, the issue is the rendering. Multiple errors. 15 runs like a charm.

Another note... I opened the project I re-edited in 15 and was able to render with 15.... in 17... same message. ERROR unable to read a stream.

Tips:

be sure to have multiple backup save (just do save as) instead of one.

Besides, Vegas project files are small sizes.

Well... because of all the issues I'm having with 17 I simply made a new project file for 15. It's a shame it can't work "out of the box".

For me worked with this method.

Give it a try. 17 is a improoved version though.
