Is it now possible to make a 5.1 surround BluRay using an AC3 file from VP17 created with AC3 Studio?

Previously DVDA would only accept a 5.1 AC3 created with AC3 Pro - and Magix Vegas did not include it. It was possible to copy and rename the AC3 Pro plugin from an old version of Vegas, but that doesnt work now, it crashes.

On a quick test Optimise Disc showed a tick by audio but still said "recompress required - Media not compiant with disc format". even though project properties are the same. Confused.

However on a quick test it does appear to work but I'd like to know if, officially, that is correct.

Still seeing the same issues I've seen with every previous release of DVDA7 ...

1) any button action placed on a video track works ONCE ... and then if you navigate back to that video track, it never works again (there are not button(s) selected when you return to the video. Eject and reload the disc, works fine. Works fine in the Preview, doesn't work in a real player.

Can be replicated easily : create a new project with a single menu, with a single button calling the video ... put a button on the video calling the menu. Now burn the disc and play on a real player ... selecting the video from the menu plays the video. Hitting the button on top of the video sends you back to the video. Now select the video from the menu again ... the button on the video no longer works.

2) projects with multiple AVC video tracks do not load in DVDA7. They get to around 65-67% and stall forever. Same project loads in DVDA6 without issues.

Can also be replicated easily : add enough videos that it stops loading. Should be around 8-10.

Sadly have to second above post re AVC files. I'm not willing to go back to DVDA6 and painfully rebuild the menu. Will instead painfully redo files using Mainconcept. Here is some info that may shed some light on this long term, continuing forever, problem: "Just as additional information: DVD Architect is a superior software for DVD's. However it has some problems with BD's. When I load AVC-media files, it always stops loading, if the size of all loaded media files goes above 9 Gbyte. I do not know, whether this value is a fixed value, but after this amount of loaded media, I cannot load any additional file. DVD Architect stops in the middle of the import process." However, my usage faithfully dies at the same time and place having loading only a little more than 2GB. In terms of number of files, I get 7 in - always - and die with the 8th - always.

AFAICS there is no limit to the number of files I am currently working on a project with 23 AVCHD files totalling ~16GB - no issues apart from the slow loading of the project which takes about 50 secs.

The only difference I have, is that the AVCHD files are exported from Magix Movie Edit Pro 2020 with a custom export format so no recoding is done by DVDA .

AVC export parameters I am using are:

1. Video
   Bitrate: 18.000 Mbps
   AR: 16:9
   Resolution: 1920*1080
   Frame rate: 25 fps interlaced, TFF
    
2. Audio:
   Format: AC3
   Bitrate: 192 Kbps
   Sample rate: 48 kHz

Are you running low on free disk space, memory or Windows resources?

Does the 8th AVC file load correctly into a new project?

Reposting with accurate info. No, the 8th AVC does not load at all into a new, separate project. Load just fine as M2V. Plenty of disk space; upwards of 1.5GB

Is there any difference between the 8th AVCHD file and the previous 7?

A MediaInfo analysis will show if there are any differences between the 8th file and the others.

If you want to post the results for the file that does not load and one that does copy the MediaInfo results from the Text view in the program.

I thought I was updating my installed DVDA 5.0 with s/n beginning with 1CRxxxxxxxxxxx.

Apparently this is not the case. My 5.0 was not updated, but fortunately still runs.

When I open the new installation, it asks for a P-xxxxxxxxxxxxx serial number or a hundred bucks.

However this was intended, the announcement seems disingenuous to this 18 year veteran of Vegas, now under its third brand, if only by omission. A response from Magix seems appropriate to me in light of the vagarious announcement.

If it only updates DVDA 6.0, which was adopted from SCS, you should have said so.

I declined SCS DVDA 6, which not only had bugs, but features that were not needed by me. Disappointed in lack of proactive communication.

As you know, you do not need to buy VEGAS DVD Architect separately if you have a VMS Platinum or Suite (or a VEGAS Pro. VP Edit version does not come with DVD A). This applies to versions as of 14 from MAGIX.

The latest / last updates of a product version should be available e.g. through MAGIX Account. Have not checked if this has been changed re SCS versions.

Did not check if DVD A 5.0 listed here is still downloadable from there.

Yes, and as you are aware, we just concurred on these details yesterday.

My strong suggestion is that going forward, Magix employ a verbose update announcement policy, which when read, will avoid giving misleading impressions, including that of the dreaded paid update.  If the installer will update DVDA 6, why not DVDA 5?

Sony DVDA continues to work well for me, as little as I use it, and so I forgive the notion of baiting.

I'm just wondering if you would be currently able to buy DVD A (Pro) 6 from MAGIX (rebrand) or even Sony.

Owing to global circumstances, I am probably unable to afford software purchases for the duration...

(That said, I have successfully resisted the impulse to download cracked versions of anything, as plentiful as they seem these days.)

Just putting my two pence worth in here. I create Blu-Rays of my family holidays and these can contain many avc titles. In my humble opinion the problem lies with the fact that DVDAS and DVDAP are both 32 bit applications. DVDAS can be patched with Large Address Aware (or some such other utility) so that it can address 4GB memory (instead of the un-patched 2GB) but, for some reason DVDAP can't.

Since patching DVDAS I've not had any problem importing avc files.

If you already have build 100 or earlier installed, there is no need to uninstall it. The build 100 will overwrite your installation and retain your settings. Your computer will need to be online for activation after the update.

From memory I think that's normal. Vegas updates are a complete build, so earlier builds have to be uninstalled first. To play safe create a Widows Restore Point before you start.

Personally, I have (almost) never uninstalled a previous build when updating VEGAS DVD Architect (or VP/VMSP for that matter). "earlier installed, there is no need to uninstall it."

Again I'm going on memory, which isn't what it used to be, but my recollection with Vegas products is I don't have to uninstall the previous version myself. It's the first part of the update installation and you get an advisory message requiring you to confirm OK before it proceeds.
