Hi everyone. I'm at my wits end with this program now I really am. This is the last bit of patience I have with it, coming on here to ask for every bit of help regarding fault finding and fixing it before I give in and go to Adobe Premier.
I've been in here a few times prior to this with several problems that never got fixed, regarding the crashes and bad preview window performance. But now it's gotten so bad it's causing massive system issues and lockups even just launching the program and importing a video for a project. I've no idea where on earth to start here so I'm genuinely asking for some guidance as to what you need in detail so we can try and get to the bottom of it.
Firstly I can write here system specs:
Windows 10 home x64 (build version 18363)
Nvidia 1080ti (driver version 442.50)
6950x I7 10 core 20 thread CPU running at 4.3GHz
Asus Rampage V Extreme motherboard (Firmware version 4101)
16GB DDR4 3600mhz Corsair memory running at 3000mhz
Samsung 850 EVO SSD
Monitors - Triple Gigabyte Aorus 1440p 144hz IPS
Superflower 1200w Platinum PSU
System is completely water cooled in custom loops.
Recording & Editing
GoPro Hero 7 recording at 4k60 HEVC
Sony Vegas Pro 17 (build version 421)
So what happens is. As soon as I import any sort of video clip, after a few moments the program just hangs, I get the spinning little disc then the error reporting screen shows. Other times the videos in my project window show as media offline which generally means the program has become unresponsive again. I get this type of crash maybe a dozen or so times an evening, each time I submit an error report when the window appears. I then relaunch the program and use Sony Vegas built in project recovery to get back into the project hopefully somewhere close before the crash then try again for 5 or 10 minutes before the next crash.
But now this weekend, the issues are going far beyond that. Within a few minutes of opening up the program and importing my first video clip for the project or loading a project, the whole system goes into absolute meltdown. My triple monitors all start losing signal as Sony Vegas becomes unresponsive, they flick back on, then flick off, flick on and flick off. Then 2 of the monitors just stay in standby mode with a display now only on one screen. The nvidia graphic driver just stops working completely so I'm now just essentially using a windows driver, the system doesn't even recognise my 1080ti GPU. The whole system gets really laggy. The only way I can get it out of this state is to shut down and restart, and then re-enable my Nvidia Surround once again.
I've tried to look to see if there are any issues with my OS by running system scans and repairs but all looks absolutely fine. I've uninstalled and reinstalled graphic driver multiple times, each time using deep cleaning to remove all traces. I've checked everything else in my system is up to date. The only time I run into any system stability is when I open up Sony Vegas 17. I spend 5 to 10 hours a day on this system working, gaming, doing all sorts of tasks with absolutely zero issues elsewhere.
Please can you help me figure this out. I've thought of doing a complete system reinstall, but if I go through that whole process and the problems persist, then I've completely wasted alot of time getting the PC back to how it was. Maybe we can try and see where the problem is in logs or such.
