Please describe exactly what "crashing" means to you, and kindly provide your source properties.

EricLNZ wrote on 8/21/2019, 10:03 PM

We need details of the media that is causing your problem as per the link Musicvid gave you.

Also are you using the basic Movie Studio or Movie Studio Platinum and what is your version and build number?

kennyko-avery wrote on 8/22/2019, 5:30 AM

Despite the lack of detail I think I'm experiencing the same issue in Movie Studio Platinum 16. I can retrieve my media (1080p mp4 recorded with OBS studio) and begin to edit, however at some point during the process my entire PC will "lock up" - sometimes resulting in a blue screen, sometimes resulting in just a frozen system that requires a manual restart. If there's audio playing the audio might even get stuck and play the same sound until I restart.

This only happens in Movie Studio Platinum (no other programs) and at this point I cannot edit anything. I'm concerned there's been a Win 10 upgrade or something that's causing an issue, as I've upgraded all my drivers and tried 3 different hard drives including an SSD just to make sure there wasn't a read/write issue.

Well, its not your source causing the problem. Try toggling GPU/HW settings.

I am also experiencing Movie Studio 16 Platinum going into "Not Responding" mode. And the only way to get it out of that is by force closing Movie Studio. It's a VERY busy time of the year for a wedding DJ like myself and I need to edit videos for upcoming weddings. So this is EXREMELY inconvenient!! As wedding season is still in full swing!

In a video I made for wedding in the beginning of this month, Movie Studio would not render some of the Transition Effects I had selected (to match the music), it was very frustrating as I spent a lot of time on trying to figure why they wouldn't render on the final video....So I ended up going back and selecting very simple CROSSFADE Transitions....not what I had envisioned for that high energy video.

Now, the couple for an upcoming wedding decided on doing a slide show for their first dance. That wedding is this Friday... and now Movie Studio keeps going into "Not Responding". And it happens unpredictably... this last time I had simply stopped the video, and it went Non Responsive.

I have other Music Producing (DAW), DJing and Photo Editing Software on my computer which is a QUAD CORE i7 laptop, and I do not have any issues AT ALL with any other programs, even when I run them simultaneously. I run Movie Studio ALONE.

Would anyone know if there is a Software update I need to run? Someone please help!!

Build 142 is the latest VMS16 Platinum update.

What is the media info of your source material?

Same here - Happens CONSTANTLY. I'm hitting "ctrl+s" (save) about every 20 seconds after every single change I make.. Also no GPU acceleration on timeline no matter what I do. Same performance with it on or off. Seems Movie Studio 16 is a very unstable program and barely works at all, and buggy as hell.

I've had no problems with VMS16. Very stable. I cannot recall it crashing on me at all.

What is your source material? And what are you doing to it. Any special FX etc.
