cropping problem

mbommoy wrote on 7/23/2020, 3:04 PM

I am making a self-choir video. I have added in a few videos into separate tracks, and I would like to crop each of the video to fit all the tracks into the screen. I am trying to crop one of the videos but got stuck. The square portion with the crop handle from the preview is where I want to save for this particular track. What should I do from here?

I think it's better not to use the crop FX, but for each event that has to be cropped the pan/crop tool plus trackanimation( maybe with keyframes iff needed) on the track.

Where can I find the pan/crop tool? I thought this is where I should be able to find, but I do not see it.

The Pan/Crop button is on the video event.

Pan/crop, event effects, hamburger (the last one for editing visible button set).

Thank you for that. I am able to zoom in and out and move the whole video around, but I cannot figure out how to crop it. Basically, I want only my head to be seen and and get rid of the part below my chin and above my hair. Could you help?

Adding Picture In Picture Video FX enables you to move it around but you appear to be mixing things. Might be best to start from scratch. Personally I would crop and position the Event and not touch Track Motion nor add FX to the track.

I'd Crop using Pan/Crop (or the Crop Video FX) then add Picture In Picture Video FX to size the cropped image and move it to where I want it.

I'm accustomed to using pan/crop and Track Motion in combination.

So was I until the PIP FX was introduced to VMS. I find it one of the most useful additions.

Both tools have their advantages and disadvantages, unfortunately none of them are perfect.
