Disable Resampling

Ruby888 wrote on 10/30/2020, 6:59 AM

Is it really necessary too disable resampling on videos in Vegas Pro 18? I see lots of gamers, say that disabling resampling results in better end product. Is this right or wrong? Most gaming capture is 60fps. What is your opinions?

Yes it is necessary!.... In a nutshell, disabling it renders your output cleaner and sharper. I have it disabled at all times.

Why would Vegas even put that in as default?

That's easy. In case you change the frame rate, it's the best compensation that Vegas has available.

Do you disable resampling and if you do what types of videos? I have seen gaming vids with the sampling enabled, you can see the video is a bit blurry frame by frame and with disabled its clean.

@Ruby888  ... you've answered your own question. If it looks better with resampling, then do it. If it looks better without resampling, then don't resample. It's horses for courses. In my current project, I have a 4K Sony AX100 shot which I slowed down and freeze framed. It ghosts on the freeze frame. Disabling resample via video event properties got rid of the ghosting.

As long as your renderframerate is exactly the same as your media/projectframerate, it really doesn't matter if resampling is enabled or disabled.

If you had to disable resampling for every video, Vegas would have it off my default. Its rare that I disable it.

Why should you . You are able to set it the way you want in your default projectproperties. This is my default

@Ruby888 fwiw that's why it's hard to give blanket recommendations on this forum. Everyone's workflow and media are different.

in my case it's always been beneficial to disable resampling. Every time I turn it on, I have to turn it right back off

Good point, I will disable it was I am starting to get back into gaming after a 4 year break. Never needed it for anything else than gaming vids.
