Error trying to install Vegas Pro 14

Yesterday I was using Vegas Pro 14 Edit and whenever I tried to save, it gave me an error something along the lines of not being able to find my license. (I do have a valid license, and have been using Vegas on a project for the last month or so with no issues.) I searched the exact message it was giving me online and the recommended solution was to delete Vegas, remove the associated registry keys, and reinstall.

Now I'm trying to reinstall (using VEGAS_Pro_14_Edit_DLM_Etailer_Connect.exe) and I'm getting the following error message:

MAGIX Installation manager

An error had occurred during communication.
Please check your internet connection.
...

My internet connection is just fine, of course. I looked online again and the suggested solution involves turning off virus protection and firewalls, which I've tried. I use Avira for virus protection (which I disabled completely) and Windows Defender Firewall (which I disabled for both public and private networks).

I still get this error message when I try to run the installation manager. Please help.

(If it helps, I'm using Windows 10 and I purchased Vegas through the Humble Bundle.)

First, thank you. I was able to download the installer from there. But now I'm back to another (very similar) problem.

I get to the screen where I enter my serial number and then click the 'Activate & register immediately online' button. And now it's back to saying I can't connect to the internet again... After trying for a few seconds, it gives the error:

VEGAS Pro

An online connection could not be established. Please
make sure your computer is correctly connected to the
Internet. A firewall may also be blocking access.

Again I tried turning off both my virus protection and turning off my Windows firewall. I still get this same issue.

Try opening the program with Administrator privileges. (right-click).

If these don't work, you might try online Live Chat. See here.(Off for today now.)

No luck. Running as administrator with firewalls off and virus protection disabled still gives the same issue. I'll try to get someone on the live chat tomorrow.
