Do you have the latest Studio (not gaming) drivers installed?

ross-conley wrote on 2/7/2021, 9:34 PM

Not sure? How do I check?

I did a Windows10 reinstall recently. Before that I could pick the nvidia driver.

RogerS wrote on 2/7/2021, 11:48 PM

Go to Nvidia.com and look for driver updates. Search for your card and pick the Studio one.

ross-conley wrote on 2/8/2021, 12:14 AM

I have just loaded 461.40 (2021.1.26) Studio Driver. Opened VP14 and checked GPU acceleration. Still showing OFF as the only selection available.

RogerS wrote on 2/8/2021, 4:01 AM

Ah well, guess it no longer works with 14? Other solutions are to go back in time to whatever driver you used to use when it worked.

Does the GPU show up in device manager and can other applications use it?

Failing that, reset Vegas in hopes it will find the GPU (hold control-shift and double-click to start Vegas).

I've never worked with VP 14 but in 15 it happily finds my GTX 1050 with latest studio drivers.

@ross-conley Try using build 252, the one before build 270. Lengthy post here, user had very similar issue.

Sometimes it happens that some applications do not want to work on raw driver assemblies, usually I just roll back to the previous version to solve the problem

JN- i used your link, but it loaded Build 270?

Try this
https://www.vegascreativesoftware.info/us/forum/faq-where-can-i-download-vegas-pro-and-other-vegas-software--104782/

I just saw this link not working and asked @NickHope in the other post to fix it.

EricLNZ wrote on 2/9/2021, 2:34 AM

@walter-i. My understanding is that only the last build of a version is now available.

vkmast wrote on 2/9/2021, 3:35 AM

@EricLNZ seems to be right. Seems "they" changed this policy to include all (MAGIX) VEGAS versions, not only the two latest versions.

Btw (and OT), several changes now at the website https://www.vegascreativesoftware.com/us/

@ross-conley "JN- i used your link, but it loaded Build 270?" I simply re-posted the link that was given in that old thread.

@vkmast I mostly keep old updates of any VP versions that I purchased, so I have kept builds for 14 to 18. Is it ok to make available b252?

JN- wrote on 2/9/2021, 4:22 AM

@vkmast I was thinking just that, PM it, and request user when he has downloaded to notify me, so I can remove my download link. Will do shortly, thanks. @ross-conley Is now PM'd.

I have NVIDIA 1080Ti with latest studio driver. This is the GPU state in the video tab just by opening up the program: V13 GPU on, V14 GPU Off (no way to turn it on), V15 GPU on, V16 GPU on, V17 & V18 GPU on.

V14 is worst Vegas version in my view V17 & V18 the best.

@andyrpsmith Maybe its the same issue, re: vp14 gpu. I’m not disagreeing with you at all, honestly, when I say that other users might have different experiences. Personally I had the impression that VP14 was fairly solid, and am of the opinion that the best, most hopeful, feature rich version, at 1st. release was vp17, sadly unlike 13 onwards, they didn’t finish it. By that I mean that usually the last update of each version from 13 onwards was solid. I believe, whether true or not, can stand corrected, that the team were in the process of fiddling with the underlying code base at the end of vp17, so that transited to vp18 for stability, but left vp17 at the end, unfinished.

Currently, I fall back on VP16, last update, when things don’t work in VP18. I posted recently, somewhere😂 in the forum, two different issues, where vp16 just worked and the current vp18 434 didn’t.

No doubt other users will have different experiences.

JN , Problem solved.

I have downloaded 270 and it allows me to access the NVIDIA card. My sincere thanks!!!!!!!!!

@ross-conley Truly excellent.

You do mean 270, not 252?
