Hardware Question and Hello after 7 Year Break

Kimberly wrote on 5/21/2022, 5:51 PM

Hello all — It’s been awhile. Seven years, to be exact. Apologies if I’m posting in the wrong location. The forum has changed a lot since my last post. If I need to post in a different topic, please advise and I will do so.

I’ve been away from video but I want to return. I need to upgrade my laptop in order to run the latest version of Vegas Pro. I’m normally a loyal Dell customer but the rest of my devices are now Apple. Are there any users running the latest Vegas Pro on a Macbook Laptop? In the “old days” there were operating environments that would allow users to run Windows based software as if they were on a compatible computer — Boot Camp or similar? Is that still true?

Cheers to all. I’ve read some recent posts and I recognize a few users from 2015 and earlier. Nice to see you are still in video 🌝 🖖

M1 or M2 are probably a bridge too far. Dells still work though.

Hello all — Thank you all for your kind welcome back to the community! I logged in and planned to resume video, then was promptly distracted with my day job for a couple months.

My 2012 Dell XPS is completely inadequate for editing with today’s software (it was barely adequate with Vegas 13) so I’ve been shopping for a new laptop. Today’s laptops don’t come with BD/DVD ports, so I’ll likely be able to repurpose Ye Olde Dell in the rare event a disc needs burning.

Stay healthy and be well and I’ll be back soon-ish with a new laptop.

DVD burners just aren't part of the laptop offerings any more, neither are firewire ports.

DVD burners that plug into USB on your new laptop are less than $20, and you can get BluRay burners under a hundred.
