Hello new member from Belgium

Hello everyone ,

I'm Johnny , 50yo living in Belgium. I'm filming and editing for a lot of years.

Tried a lot of edit soft but kept going back to Pinnacle because that I knew best.

Untill yesterday ... I got this footage to edit (bad greenscreen recordings) and Pinnacle could not do it.

So a friend that uses Vegas and also PS tried it in Vegas and it worked. I had 15 Edit laying around from a humble bundle deal.

Installed it. Got a "all in one hour crash course" from my friend Tony

And now I am 3 small movies and 8 hours of editing in Vegas further and I really like it !!

Johnny

I switched from Pinnacle to Vegas when the DC10+ was no longer supported. Let's see, 2002?

Hi Johnny,
I also come from Pinnacle, it was good software to start with - but at some point there were just too many barriers to creativity, and now I've been with Vegas for almost 10 years - first version 11 and now version 18.

Pinnacle Studio was for me only to learn good workarounds, not for good editing until 2008, then I switched to Vegas.

met vriendelijke groet

I started in Pinnacle when it was, I think 11 or 12

I also have a music recording studio and you could use vst plugins at that time (Well I use cubase and wavelab for audio)

I'm not gonna drop Pinnacle because today I needed to do some animation with png's and (at the moment) I think this is easier in Pinnacle..

It was a star map that has 2 rings , so I cut them in photoshop and saved them as a png. The animation was one ring turning left and the other one turning right

Vegas uses Sonic Foundry for editing audio , Is it possible to use wavelab as a auditor editing plugin ?

Edting in Pinnacle I used everything I could ; here is a small example of a movie I made and edit I did for my own rock opera (still in progress)

Welcome to the forum! And yes, I was the one to help you get started with Vegas! It took you a while (couple of years?) to finally see what I was talking about!

As @walter-i. said, Pinnacle is good software, and it has added a lot of features that might surprise many here. What it lacks is responsiveness that Vegas has with timeline editing, and for me, long form editing. Those that used it "back in the day" (I go back to 2002) will certainly be surprised how far the software has come.

Most of what I do in Pinnacle is under 10 minutes, and relatively simple. With project templates I've created, it's easy to replace the footage on the timeline using the "Replace" edit mode. I would love for Vegas to have this. Anything more complex, Vegas is what I use. Also, consider the price of the software and who it's for. And it has had features (nested timelines, sub projects to name two) that have been around for years.

I've always been one to use the best tool for the job I have at hand. So like most everyone here, I have more than one NLE to work with.
