17 is not available on the Vegas Creative Software website. It reached its end of life on August 3, 2020. You can occasionally find it offered, but many of those are from disreputable sources.
You'll likely find it a lot less expensive to buy Vegas Pro 19 rather than 17. Just looking at Amazon, they have VP17 Edit (which looks like its a CD-ROM version, not a download) selling for $399 USD whereas buying VP19 Edit as a new purchase directly from Vegas' website currently costs $224 USD.
As fas as I can recall, the recommended minimum system specifications for Vegas Pro 17 are the same or very similar to those for Vegas Pro 19.
VEGAS 19 is your best bet. It's better in every way and cheaper.
+10 @joi I can only agree with that - also concerning the software itself - Vegas Pro 19 is already running stable and will receive its 4th (free) update in the next few days, so it doesn't make sense to buy a pre- pre- previous year's model.
Humble Bundle and Steam are legit resellers that occasionally have good deals on previous Vegas titles.
Agreed. But it's important to know that Vegas Pro bought from Steam locks the buyer into the 'Steam Universe' rather than the 'Vegas/Magix Universe'. Registration and activation is done through Steam's system and does not involve Vegas/Magix's registration/activation process. Based on comments on the forum in the past, Vegas Pro bought from Steam does not even get a Vegas/Magix serial number - all that process is on Steam's system. So updates and upgrading need to be done through Steam. And unlike a Vegas Pro perpetual licence from Vegas/Magix which allows simultaneous activation on two computers, I understand that only one activation is allowed with a Steam edition.
