Loss of Quality and Colors when Rendering

Michelle-Marino wrote on 4/18/2020, 9:11 AM

Does anyone know why the rendered video (on the left) is so much darker and has more contrast than how it looked in the preview window ? I have attached my rendering settings for reference. I recently upgraded to Movie Studio 16 from 13 hoping this issue would be solved. I was wrong :(

Thank you in advance for your help

Vegas preview displays RGB colors, not typical YUV delivery colors. To make your output levels match your previews, add the Computer ->Studio RGB Levels fx to the output just prior to rendering. Look at the free SMW Extension to facilitate this.

Does this also work in VMS. I have it in Pro but tried everything to show it up in VMS. How did you do it?

@j-v I just checked but didn't have time to correct this. Yes, you need the Platinum version.

[offtopic]I tried everything, I see it in VPro under tools/extensions, but in VMS 16 Pl I see it not, also not after a repair of the tools.
Where should I see this extension?[/offtopic]

Thank you for your reply. Is the site linked below, https://www.semw-software.com/en/autolevels/ , the same SMW Extension you were mentioning?

Now to figure out how to add an extension :)

Please see Video FX

And straight from the SeMW Auto Levels page:

@vkmastThis app cannot change the preview, what the levels app of SEMW does. I mean this one

@j-v You're right. Auto Levels uses this

And SeMW Extensions is only for VEGAS Pro as you say.

Both are free.
