I am somewhat new to video editing.I cut up multiple sections from same video, added an overlaid music track, and text. Somehow several large sections of imported video have dropped their original audio track that was imported with the video. How can the audio be restored without re-importing same video?
Do this for every file type in your project.
You can with VMS15 Platinum but I don't know about the basic version.
Your original video will be in the Project Media pane
Right click on it and drag to your timeline. Probably best to put it on an empty temporary track
As you release your mouse button you will get an option to add audio only and select "Add audio across time".
You now have the audio but for the entire original clip. Place it under the video that it relates to. You should see red indications of how much it's out of sync
Right click on the audio and select Synchronise and then "By Slipping"
You now have it in sync and can trim the beginning and end to match the video
Lastly select both video and audio and right click Group" and "Create New".
Whilst your doing all this it's probably best to have Rippling switched off. Best of luck.
Thanks Eric. I will let you know when I resolve this issue. I read your directions a few times and they do make sense to me.
The basic Movie Studio versions 15 and 16 do have the Add Across feature @EricLNZ described, but for some reason Synchronize does not seem to work for me in the basic versions. And the online Help in those versions does not include the item "Repairing audio/video synchronization offsets". I can move the unsynced event though.
Note: Sync By Moving - Moves the event you clicked so it is synchronized to its corresponding audio or video event. And Sync By Slipping - Slips the contents of the event you clicked so the audio and video are synchronized. The events do not move, but the contents of the event you right-click are shifted forward or backward to restore synchronization.
