Vegas deletes the autosave.veg project file. Vegas also creates an autosave.veg.bak file (backup) but from distant memory being in the same situation as you that also gets deleted if you accidentally say no to saving project

so you mean by that that my whole montage that i edited for 2 days is gone forever?

Instead of putting all your eggs in one basket, save incrementally. That way, your whole montage is not "gone forever"

it didnt save mine... i searched in the files and it wasnt there
