When I try and use .mkv files in Vegas17 my software crashes. I know it's a public filetype thing so it's rarely updated or something? But I would really like to not buy a whole upgrade just so I can edit one file type, that's even if it reads it without crashing. Even if I mouse over it in the import dialogue box it crashes. Any help would be appreciated.
Please note from the first comment in this thread: "MKV is a wrapper that can support hundreds of possible codec combinations. The new feature supports a few of them, and in the future will support a few more!"
As v. 17 was the last version of the VEGAS Movie Studio product line, there is no future in that program to support more though. It was replaced by a MAGIX product called Movie Studio 18 and a bit later Movie Studio 2022, which are totally different programs and as such not upgrades to VEGAS MS.
