Movie studio 13.0 cloned needing reregistration

Sony movie studio 13.0 about a year or 2 ago cloned itself within the application's folder causing 2 instances to open with every launch . When I uninstalled the clone it is forcing me to register the software again though unfortunately I can not find the box for the software with the item serial number to do the registration . is there a reason that the software requires a registration and is there a way to regain access to the software since it was already registered ?

Presumably you have the original Sony version and not the rebranded Magix VMS13 version. But anyway all Sony Creative Software information was moved over to Magix and should be available at your Magix account https://www.magix.com/us/support/my-service-center/. If you don't have a Magix login try your old SCS one which you would have used to initially activate the software for yes it does require online activation. If that doesn't work search this forum for your problem has cropped up previously.

You may also note this: "Older versions of Vegas Pro [and Movie Studio] than 14.0 are licensed under a system (as previously used by Sony) which permits use on multiple computers by one user; after an unspecified number of installations on different or updated PCs you may need to contact support to reset your "installation count"."

Maybe try asking at Online Live Chat (advice here).

The main issue I have is that in order to get the product reinstalled I would need the pin ( or to reregister it ) and I currently can't run it on my system due to it needing to be reregistered which means I need to serial number in order to get it to work . it isn't a login issue though How would I find the registered item outside of the serial number ?

Wouldn't that need the serial number though ? Thanks for the suggestion !👍

Try and ask, you have nothing to lose "given the circumstance". Your double post elsewhere was hidden (CR #3: Cross posting, i.e. spreading around the same entry in multiple categories, should be avoided.)
