Need my1920x1080 video to 1080x1920 9:16 ratio for Instagram reel

Kimberly-Durecki wrote on 1/20/2023, 10:55 AM

Hello,

I am trying to render my 1920 x 1080 as a 1080 x 1920 with a 9:16 ratio for Instagram Reels as this is the requirement.

I see a template but it does not render vertical. Can Sony do this. You would think that would be up to date on the latest trends. Thank you in advance.

You were told here that Sony has nothing to do with VEGAS (versions 14 and newer)

https://www.vegascreativesoftware.info/us/forum/feeling-ripped-off-from-sony-and-borix--129051/

The "sony" versions could NOT do that.

The newest versions of VEGAS (by MAGIX) have render presets for 9:16 as well as 16:9. Have you checked the render options in VEGAS Pro 19 and 20?

Reyfox wrote on 1/20/2023, 11:10 AM

Mine rendered my 4K 16:9 to fit 9:16 4K just fine.

This is what MediaInfo says. and that is definitely 9:16 4K

Thank you and YES I do know this but it will ALWAYS be SONY VEGAS to me as I have been using it for 10 years. Yes I seen the presets for 9:16 1080 x1920 and rendered accordingly. It does not come out full vertical as needed for Instagram Reels. It needs to be full screen and vertical. Thank you.

Kimberly-Durecki wrote on 1/20/2023, 11:14 AM

Here is how that setting renders, here is how it should look.

Umm... NO IT WON'T as Sony sold it 7 years ago. So Sony only owned it 3 of your 10 years of using it. Just say VEGAS with no other classifiers - it's really simple.

LOL it is not a big deal, gees. I was saying I have had the program for 10 years and it was SONY VEGAS when I purchased it so to me it will always be. Stores change names also and it is usually always the first stores name people go by. No reason to be so sensitive. I was asking for assistance on a problem here in the forum, not to be judged. Thank you.

Reyfox wrote on 1/20/2023, 11:53 AM

@Kimberly-Durecki from my perspective, and it's just me, anyone using Sony triggers to me, a pirate. Those are the only ones using that name. For me to help a pirate is like helping someone rob my home. It isn't going to happen.

There is no way of knowing if someone is a legal purchaser of the software or not. There should be, like with Amazon. You see "verified" with a user post in the comments if they've actually bought the item. It gives a little more credibility in knowing they've had the product.

And since there is an aversion to people using "Sony", I would have changed the way I write to accommodate those that request it. Especially since the product isn't nor has been Sony for years. I don't call Nissan, Datsun, which is the name they first used. I don't call the Brooklyn Nets, the Jersey or Long Island Nets, names that they had before. Why? Because that is not what their current name is.

Calling a woman by her maiden name instead of her married name doesn't work either, especially if the husband is standing there.

I didnt know it was such an ordeal actually. I bought the software, started with movie studio and upgraded and have upgraded to every version of Vegas since bay back when, have 19 now and going to go to 20. I get it. Unfortunatly, I am old school. Macy's used to be Hudsons and I still say going to Hudsons, concerts were always at Pine Know when I was younger and they changed it to DTE Music Theatre, always has been Pine Knob to me and always will be, actually last year after 20 years they finally changed the name back to Pine Knob lol Also, my girl friends from high school we always go by there maiden name because we grew up with that name. Maybe it is girl/guy thing, but I am the complete opposite. To each his own :) No biggie.

Kimberly-Durecki wrote on 1/20/2023, 12:03 PM

@Reyfox It still wont go full vertical with the settings provided in VEGAS :)

Reyfox wrote on 1/20/2023, 12:08 PM

If it has been mentioned several times, by several people, then it is a "biggie". To speak otherwise disrespects the company and those associated with it.

Macy's was never Hudson's btw.

Remember, you are the one asking for help.

Well I dont know where you live, I am from Detroit and Hudsons did turn to Macys. You are mistaken.

Did hudson's turn to Macy's

NYC. Macys was always Macys. Their name has never changed. They may have bought Hudson's, but were never known by that name.

Being bought by another company (which happens all the time), when there is a name change, that is the name it should be known by. Remember Mohammed Ali? Would you call him Cassius Clay? Disrespectful it would be.

Just like calling MAGIX Vegas Pro, Sony Vegas. It disrespects the owners and developers.

I give up, sorry this forum is not helpful as all people want to do is be RUDE. I came here asking for help and all you want to do is argue. No time for this. What a shame this is the only place to go for help from VEGAS. Terrible there is no support as I have spent THOUSANDS of dollars on their software and I have to go through being harassed for a simple resolution. Shame on you. BTW IT IS ALWAY SONY VEGAS TO ME. I can call it whatever i wish as I bought the darn software. This world has gone mad. Shame on you. Shame on this forum to allow this.

Reyfox wrote on 1/20/2023, 12:35 PM

Rude. Someone calling something that it isn't. That's not arguing, but stating a fact.

And yes, the world has gone mad. Calling things names, that they are no longer associated with is a part of it.

I think I'll go down to Esso.... oops!! Exxon to fill up my van.

Open Pan/Crop on the event, right-click the image in the Pan/Crop window, and choose "Match Output Aspect"

Reyfox wrote on 1/20/2023, 12:37 PM

That's how I did it!

Kimberly-Durecki wrote on 1/20/2023, 12:39 PM

Kimberly-Durecki wrote on 1/20/2023, 12:40 PM

Would of helped if you told me that to begin with instead on staying I did it, that doesnt help lol

@Kimberly-Durecki I made a small screen recording showing the procedure for you. I hope it helps to solve your problem. Good luck!

jetdv wrote on 1/20/2023, 12:53 PM

Honestly, I wasn't exactly sure the answer to your question until I saw that last screenshot. If something doesn't fill the screen, that's almost always the answer - Match Output Aspect but it WILL chop off the left and right edges. You can move the Pan/Crop location to get the part of the video you want, though.

Kimberly-Durecki wrote on 1/20/2023, 1:45 PM

Thank you Joelson. I was not doing the pan crop match output aspect and that was the entire problem. Thank you very much for answering the question and not jumping on the band wagon about "SONY VEGAS" Not being SONY any more lol- This is why I come to this forum is for help from others and to stay on topic. I appreciate it very much. I can say I have many times felt attacked in this forum and it is such a shame people cant just be kind as you were. Have a blessed day.

@Kimberly-Durecki as said in this pinned post: "The VEGAS Team advises that they want to avoid the appearance of misusing a brand that isn't theirs." Please read the VEGAS Product Owner's (gary-rebholz) comments in this thread for more. (Btw, he's been involved with VEGAS for more than 20 years.) Thank you.

Maybe just reporting brand misattribution to a moderator is enough due diligence, so it can be handled it in a consistent, nonpunitive way.
