New install of VEGAS is crashing constantly on a very simple project

AaronL wrote on 4/16/2020, 8:33 PM

I just installed bought, downloaded and installed. VEGAS 17 PRO on a very new and rather powerful W10 desktop ( 32gb RAM) I7, 3 SSD drives and an HDD

working on my first project it is very simple, I need to simply cut between three different iOS videos

I am using stock Vegas EQ on two of the audio tracks to improve audio and no other effects or transitions. This project could not be more light or simple it is a 3.5 min clip ( x3)

Vegas has hung, frozen, or crashed completely 7 times in the last hour since I started working on this.

I am very disappointed - Is it really such an unstable program?

What can I do here to make it work?

HELP

Thanks

You didn't tell us much to go by... we need more detailed system specs (what kind of GPU?), and a mediainfo report on the media files you are using would also be helpful. Most of the time these cases are resolved by GPU driver updates, but we don't know what you're using to point you in the right direction.

Systems:

Desktop

AMD Ryzen 7 1800x 8 core 16 thread at stock speed

64GB 3000mhz DDR4

Geforce RTX 3090

Windows 10

Laptop:

ASUS Zenbook Pro Duo 32GB (9980HK CPU, RTX 2060 GPU, dual 4K touch screens, main one OLED HDR)

If from an iPhone, Variable Frame Rate (VFR) may be the problem. It's been mentioned many times on the forum over the years, with one recommended solution being to re-encode the video to Constant Frame Rate in Handbrake or similar.

I just downloaded mediainfo, as you know it generates a ton of info on each file, what info should I post here?

Thanks
