1.When I attempt to load the media into my timeline I get the message...
..............You have opened a media file which contains multible channels of audio. would you like to set the current project to 5.1 surround mode...........
2.the audio track had a straight line after loading into project. either after answering yes or no on the message?
3. I can convert the file to an MP-4, and use it just fine in the project, but I need Vegas to use my files as shot, not spending hours converting them.
2.the audio track had a straight line after loading into project. either after answering yes or no on the message?
Try to select only the audiofile and rightclick on it. Choose from the switches the Normalize on and select this one. Do you see some changes in the straight line
FYI (re above), "The following codecs require online additional activation the first time they are used in each version. Therefore if you connect your PC to the internet especially to activate VEGAS, it is recommended to also make short renders in these formats before disconnecting, if you anticipate using them:
Intel HEVC/MAGIX ProRes, Magix AVC/AAC MP4, MainConcept MPEG-2, MP3 Audio, AAC Audio, Dolby Digital AC-3 Studio, Sony XAVC-L/XAVC Intra MXF"
Also, check the setting in View menu, Audio Event Waveforms.
I attempted to make a dvd. im my project I loaded it as 5.1 surround. I had no sound in the project!!!
When starting to make the DVD, it wanted to load a codex, I think. I clicked ok, and Movie studio shut down?
now when I try to remake the project again, and load as 5.1 surround, Movie studio crashes every time.
This is my 3rd brand of video editing software I have had over about 6 years, and I have never had one not be able to use the video from my cameras? the 1st one I quit using because I went to windows 10, the 2nd because it kept locking up in windows 10. I hope I can get vegas to work for me.
Dot, Im hoping to get VEGAS to work with my formats, what are you meaning by remux?

Right now there is an audio 1 and audio 2. There are programs out there that will separate (demux) the audio streams from the video stream and then connect (remux) back to a video with audio stream. I think having two audio streams is not compatible with movie studio.
Dot, I am not familiar with that program, but will look into it. Having to remix all of my videos before using them in my project is what I am trying to avoid. I can convert to MP4, but that would take me probably 10 hrs to convert everything I want to edit through, for maybe a 40 min. video, its just not worth it.
If you look at the screenshot of my project, I am trying to use 1 audio stream. but Movie Studio wont let the audio work, no sound.
My som has Vegas Pro, I am going to try my videos on his system and see what happens.
Thanks to all who are tryng to help. I was hoping someone could tell me, OH yeah, just do this to use MPG files in your projects.
