Alfpoco wrote on 4/29/2021, 7:59 AM

Hello, after re-installation of Movie Studio 16.0 build 175 (64bits) in a new PC, when I try to open some files (not all , seems to be only with big files) I got the unmanaged exception error and the program aborts. Fault module C:\windows\system32\KERNEL BASE.dll

Can you help, please?

I'm using Windows 10 home with Nvidia 1030 GPU.

@Alfpoco
This is a userforum and the possible help is from other users.
To start helping we need a lot more info as
- type of project
- MediaInfo of the sourcefiles that give that error.
Start here to give that Information

Thanks for your recommendations. here after more detail:

Regarding the project (.vf).. it was prepared more than 1 year ago with another PC. The footage should be MP4 or m2ts recorded with a Sony camera (HDR-PJ810). I can't give more detail because i can't open the file and it was save some time ago.

The project file is around 483Kb and was created in November 2020 with Movie Studio 16.0 however I don't know the build as my old PC crashed and is out of service!.

Thanks to let me know if you need more detail.

To complete my post, I have already uninstalled and reinstalled the GPU driver and same for Movie Studio following recommendation found in another post of this forum. Nothing has changed.

Thanks for the Info that was not complete.
You did not gave the MediaInfo.
For the right use you have to follow this tutorial.
Further are you not using the best drivers for that GPU because better is to use the Studio driver for that GPU in Vegas and not the game driver.
Better than un-/installing Vegas is to reset that program following exactly this tutorial

That 's it: your sourcefiles.
Since the latest Windows 10 update all latest Vegas Programs do have problems to load that kind of files with more audio channels than stereo. For the latest Vegas programs the developpers are making fixes.
Read this message by VegasDerek:
"We are working hard to get a fix out for this problem in both VP 18 and VP 17 (along with VMS 17 and VMS 17 Platinum). We hope to have this delivered within the next 2 or 3 weeks. I know that seems a bit slow and quite a long time to wait, but coordinating updates for 4 different applications at the same time is a bit tricky and is creating a massive backlog for our QA team as they verify these releases. We are working as quickly as possible to resolve this for all of you."
Sadly enough not VMS 16, so at the moment your only solution is trying to delete the latest Windows Updates, but it is only for a short time (a few weeks) after which the updates will install again.
Other possibilities are
- use only your files when they have stereo sound
- upgrade to a higher Vegas version

@Alfpoco please read again the last part in @j-v's comment re VMS/P v.16.

Alfpoco wrote on 5/4/2021, 9:44 AM

Then, if I well understand VMS 16 is dead...and I can't be sure that VMS 17 works...I'm not very happy...
