Is there a Codec update or fix?

Yes, VegasPro17!

Mickey-Briggs wrote on 3/15/2020, 3:25 AM

I would buy the upgrade but being disabled, working two days a week and not having any benefits or assistance....I am on a very limited income. Upgrading is above my financial ability

All I use it for is creating slideshows for a children's charity I volunteer for

Take also a look at VegasMovieStudio 16, is probably more than sufficient for your purpose and it is also affordable. At least you could try a 30 day free trial and see if it fulfills your needs and solves your issue.

Maybe even the MS Platinum version then? It's much less restrictive and only about $10 / £5 / €10 more. https://www.vegascreativesoftware.com/us/vegas-movie-studio/product-comparison/#productMenu

(Note that both have the "automatic" Slideshow Creator, which is in VEGAS Pro only as of v.17.)

You may still find MS Platinum 15 from reliable online sellers at an even cheaper price. (Needs Microsoft® Windows 7, Windows 8, Windows 8.1, or Windows 10.)

Of course when I say VegasMovieStudio, I always mean the Platinum version. I would never recommend the stripped version.

I can underscore vkmast notation, that Movie Studio has an useful "automatic" slideshow creator, which was not a part of VegasPro till v17.

I and most regular users know that of course and agree, but this is the first post from a new forum member and he may not know. We're having too many disappointed users of the basic version asking here for advise to get refunded / change their version. And as you say, definitely "try before you buy".

Personally I was never able to solve the Kernelbase issue of Vegas Pro 10 b 738 64-bit. Reinstalling helped only when opening the program the first time. Further attempts failed. Are you able to try build 737 32-bit? I just installed it to test and it seems to work.

Vegas Pro 10 was the first version to use it's own mp4 codec.

As such, it's both buggy and incomplete. Vegas 14 is pretty solid, and you can find it deeply discounted. Use a reputable vendor.
