Vegas Pro crashing...again and again

michel-plante wrote on 4/26/2020, 7:27 AM

Hi,

I've seen many crashes with Sony/Magix products and I'm still buying their products? have no idea why?

The latest one, I made a slide show. Just pictures, 5 seconds apart with a basic 1 second transition between them. using Vegas Pro 16 the latest build. So I'm ready to render but before, I just want to make sure everything is OK on my 7.30min. project. I run my .veg file and everything is nice and smooth. Suddenly at around the 4 min. mark, I notice that a picture is still playing after it's 5 second playtime on the timeline, as it plays like that for 15 seconds without consideration of the pictures following it.

I then stop the playtime and cannot close my app. The X button is read and my cursor is useless. I must then go in the task manager to close the program. A new kind of crash for me, like I need one!?

I reload Vegas and the .veg file and run it again figuring that it would crash on the same picture. Nope! It went by the picture and did it again further down the timeline. It did it like that 4 more times. After going through the length of the video, I cross my fingers and render the project. By chance and for a reason unknown to me it renders the whole project on one pass. Lucky!

If someone has an explanation for that I would more than appreciate it...thank you

Michel

When it crashes does your screen look like this?

musko wrote on 4/27/2020, 2:12 AM

@Musicvid sometime I have this problem.
Any suggestion please?

Musicvid wrote on 4/27/2020, 3:53 AM

Update your graphics driver.

If still problems, disable GPU Acceleration of Video Processing.,

michel-plante wrote on 4/27/2020, 7:42 AM

Hi Music,

Yes absolutly that's what my crashes related to this topic look like.

For a long time I had to disable the GPU when rendering. I think Magix did fix that problem. I use it all the time and it crashes 1 /10 times, much better than before. Looks like this is still an issue whit the GPU acceleration when trying your suggestion. Good idea Music, I will try it and let you know the results.

Another question, you seem like someone who comes here often. Me, it's my second time. I usually go on another specialized Vegas web site. So I tried to reach this Post and your answers without using the links provided in the email. I couldn't find my Post? Can you please tell me where in this site's menu, can I find my Posts old and recent?

Thanks you for that Music.

Michel.

Hi VK,

I was writing an answer and I think I lost it when trying to go in my avatar to see what you were meaning. I did notice the info I needed. So if my answer does pop out, please ignore it because while I was writing it I could not access the avatar but could access Messages, where I found a conversation I had with you 2 years ago.

Thanks for this VK...it will be useful next time I pop in.

@michel-plante … just a hint … when attributing the Solution button, it is meant to go to the forum contributor who gave you the solution, not yourself. From your last post, vkmast was clearly the contributor who should have been attributed with the solution.

@michel-plante … No, no, no - it is not me that should credited with a Solution (I didn't even contribute earlier) - it is vkmast.who I was recommending as providing the solution in my comment.

@Dexcon not clear which contribution by yours truly you are referring to? =)

P.S. I removed the solution here. I think our @Musicvid might be credited here.

Dexcon wrote on 4/27/2020, 8:50 AM

@vkmast … please see my post just before your latest - I made no comment to warrant a Solution. Please note my earlier comment to the OP

From your last post, vkmast was clearly the contributor who should have been attributed with the solution.

The OP has obviously not understood maybe due to language translation issues.

As the topic was "VEGAS Pro crashing..." I've removed the solution credited to me.

Hi Dexcon and vkmast,

Like I mentioned in my previous message I'm new here. I'm writing in this space provided within this Forum and presuming that both of you will read it. Where can I write if I want to provided an answer to a specific comment or suggestion, in the ''quote'' item? If I Tag the one who gave me a solution does that Tag stay on the topic as ''shadowed'' or does it disappear? I just tagged Musicvid for a previous answer and I also think that I did tag his solution when reading his answer earlier this morning. There is a green shadow that disappears?? For your info, I'm french speaking from Montreal Canada, I try to do my best with the English language but I might miss some phrases or words sometimes. Google does a decent job in translation.

VK probably you'll remember that I wrote here a couple of years ago when MSP 15 came out with the black only interface. That after having choices in softer colors in older versions. I was wandering and did write why Magix had taken that option (to softer colors) out of their interface options? I clearly remember talking to you a few times on that subject on this site and on a zen web site. I'm not taking credit for that, but finally Magix did include different shades in their interface and also added it in the Vegas Pro 16 version I'm working with for the last year or so.

Thanks for your time, actions are noted for my next visit.

Michel

@michel-plante

You comment in the thread just as you have done. Click "Quote" on the comment you want to quote and then edit as needed.

Where can I write if I want to provided an answer to a specific comment or suggestion, in the ''quote'' item?

I've found it best then to press Enter twice to be able to go on with the comment. If you cannot manage to "quote", just copy and paste, but use e.g. quotes around "that text".

The user who posted a thread can tag and untag a comment. Also the moderators and MAGIX employees can use the solution button. The tag stays until someone with the rights removes or changes it.

I remember the discussion with you earlier regarding the interface type options. The issue was widely discussed at the time. Luckily the VEGAS Team took action and actually it was MSP 15 that came with two application background shade choices: Dark and Light. VEGAS Pro 15 came with four options: Dark, Medium, Light and White.
