Vegas Pro HumbleBundle used to work but now, isn't registered, but is?

James-Carr wrote on 9/6/2022, 2:56 PM

Hi there, I've seen a lot of posts about this, but most are about purchasing directly and it seems they haven't used it yet? Whereas mine is from a Humble bundle, and I have already created videos in the past with it. I hope this makes the distinction separate enough to warrant a more personal response.

So, when a humble bundle came around with Sony Vegas Pro 15 in it, I jumped on it, and immediately started using it to create some videos. Everything worked fine, and I used it for about 3 weeks until I had some issues at work where overtime and lay offs were a thing.

I have finally gotten a stable job elsewhere and I have weekends for myself! So what do I try to do? Make some videos again. But this time, Vegas pops up with an 'activate and register immediately online' message, requiring my email and serial number, which are both auto completed by my computer. I have looked into my humble bundle email history to ensure it is the correct serial number, and it is my email address. But when I click to register, it says it is already registered under a different email. I have tried my other 2 email addresses (throw away and more private) and nothing works. I have tried creating a magix account with all 3 email addresses to see if any will have the product in them but they do not. And magix requires vegas to sort it out.

I have not tried uninstalling yet, in case that makes it worse. I have tried activating the product on magix and it states the serial number is ready to be registered, but once you try it states it is already registered. Very frustrating.

I am wondering if a simple email to be able to transfer the product to my magix account would be possible?

I am all ears for any suggestions. If staff say to try uninstalling then at least I have a forum chain to link if it makes it worse and I get blamed for it! (happened before with software years ago for music elsewhere, never again)

Thanks for reading and I hope someone here knows how to solve this frustrating error.

James

Just go to your Magix Account. Everything you need to unregister and reregister it should be there.

I would love to but I have tried twice and they keep saying to come to sony to solve it. So am I just going to be bounced between companies?

Is a long shot but I have seen this mentioned before, auto complete of e-mail can add a space in front of the e-mail address and you get already registered under a different email. Just check this.

(Intel 3rd gen i5@4.1GHz, 32GB RAM, SSD, 1080Ti GPU, Windows 10) Not now used with Vegas.

@Former user James says his was a Humble Bundle purchase. Unless I've missed something there's no mention of Steam. To my knowledge Humble Bundle purchases are registered as normal onto a Magix account.

@EricLNZ Thanks, I thought humble bundle was a steam thing, but for VP15 it wasn't

VP 15 is Magix, not Sony so you will never be bounced between companies. Contact Magix support or login to your Magix account (not Sony) and deactivate it online and then reactivate it on your computer.

Well how else can I contact them?

This is my most recent post on the magix forum, which has been locked because they keep stating I need to come to the vegas forum to solve this issue.

I am basically getting pushed to each side, which both sides say they have nothing to do with this.

My magix account doesn't show vegas as a product, so I cannot do anything with it, and I cannot register the product because it keeps saying the product is registered.

All I want is someone to look at my account and the serial number and get it to work again.

I'm sorry to bother you all, but this is just annoying. Why can't I just email someone instead of forum posts where it can be ignored by 2 companies? I really wish to use this program because it's what I've learned all my video editing on.

There's a support button at the top of this page. Click on it and don't come to the community, go to support.

Magix forum is for Magix products other than Vegas. Vegas forum is for Vegas. Neither are tech support.

How to contact VEGAS Support (not MAGIX Support, which is for MAGIX products).

And as said, Steam offers are not HumbleBundle offers. Steam customers do not have a serial number for the MAGIX/VEGAS account. (Do you actually have a HB purchase and not a Steam one?)

@James-Carr

So, when a humble bundle came around with Sony Vegas Pro 15 in it,

No, Humble Bundle did not come around with Sony Vegas Pro 15, it was Magix Vegas Pro 15. I have it. There is no Sony Vegas Pro 15.

I have tried creating a magix account with all 3 email addresses

That just confused everything even more. You say that you used Vegas Pro 15 and that your Serial Number and email address show up by default thus you must have registered it when you activated it. That means that you have an account with that email address. You were told to go to your account.

I would love to but I have tried twice and they keep saying to come to sony to solve it.

Sorry, but I highly doubt that. Do you know how to go to your account in Magix.com? Tell us/show us how you did it because it doesn't sound like you know how.

You log in with your email address - the one that you used to register Vegas Pro 15 - which is your user name, and the password that you used. In doing this, there is nothing that even remotely knows which program you're talking about so there could be no message telling you to go to Sony.

Now that you seem to have created more accounts with Magix, you have made a mess. How could you even think that creating a new account would somehow magically find your existing registered product? It can't.

If you created a new account with the same email that you say that you used, then you have the wrong email address (username) because you cannot create a new account with the same email address. If you tried, Magix would tell you that the account already exists.

You need to log in to your account with Magix.com that you used to register Vegas 15 Pro in the first place. Check your spelling. Vegas Pro 15 should show up under My Products. If you can log in to that account, then let us know.

Failing that, you need to create a ticket with Vegas Support, as indicated, and give them the pertinent information. You will also need to get them to close any other accounts that you creaed that have no registered products.

Vegas Pro 18 Edit, Vegas Movie Studio 16 Platinum, Magix Video Pro X16, Magix Movie Studio Platinum 2024, Xara Designer Pro X19, Samplitude Pro X8 Suite, Music Maker 2025 Premium, SF Audio Cleaning Lab 4, Sound Forge Pro 16 and more.

You can find your account here: https://www.magix.com/us/support/my-service-center/

and here: https://www.vegascreativesoftware.com/us/support/service-center/

Both of those accounts will show your registered MAGIX and VEGAS (and Vegas) products in the "My products" section.

It would seem that you have either lost your original registration information at Magix.com or someone has stolen your account and started using your serial number. Please reach out to our customer support.
