Attempting to render an MP4 video file and the app freezes, crashes

Hello, I'm using Movie Studio 17 Platinum build 223

I'm trying to convert a project to mp4 for the internet and the software either freezes if I use the mouse anywhere, or it crashes, or sometimes when beginning the render process displays an error 0x8066000a (message missing). as soon as begin the process and click next to begin.

I'm running an intel quad CPU running at 5.6 GHz with over 18 gigs of ram.

What I'm using as file contents is a video animation with music, then a text overlay on top of it identifying the video, and then approximately an hour audio file.

This has become an ongoing difficulty for me. In the beginning, there were no problems when I created a video like this and there have been no additions of any kind to my computer since installing the software, other than I thought that version 18 was an upgrade to 17 (foolish of me wasn't it, alas I put that one onto me entirely - ps 18 will not convert to an mp4 either, same problems, different result.)

I've posted here about this difficulty in the past and receive no answer except a question about why was I using such a large audio file and asked if I had video components included in the file as the software cannot create an MP4 without video components, which I answered to explain that there were video components, and then no further responses from you.

Please, any assistance you can provide as to why this is happening would be deeply appreciated. Thank you.

If you notice in that other post I was asked about the audio file and I answered, my apologies if I was less than accurate overall, I am new to this and your requirements, so I did not know it was necessary to gather all of this information. And, as I mentioned above, after answering, I never received another answer and could no longer find the post.

Just right clicking on the video file to select Properties, then if I try and mouse click on anything in Movie Studio, causes it to freeze which effectively crashes the program, forcing me to begin over.

So after almost a month with no response from anyone, I am just done. I can only assume that you simply don't care about supporting your software and only care about folks purchasing it and then making no effort at all to support it. It is simply insane that I now own three versions of your software and all of them freeze or crash when rendering a file to a MP4.

So you have lost a customer and one who will never ever recommend your company to anyone, except to advise them to RUN.

Not a happy camper.

Maybe I can help you a bit.
To me it looks that your projectsettings are wrong.
Your project is Full HD, your video source is 1/3 of it and your logo animation is 2x your programsettings.
Start again with a new project and after putting a videofile on the timeline set your projectformat as follow

and don't change that anymore.
Put the other things you need on that timeline and at least make movie to an mp4

Thank you J V, I made the adjustments you suggested above and I am still experiencing the software freezing spontaneously as I am adding in components for the overall video I wish to produce. It's extremely frustrating.

- I asked also for a possible Graphic Processor, you did not tell but on your screenshot I see the choosen Nvidia GPU.
- You did not give a screenshot of Options/Preferences/Video.
Further, if you change your settings at Options/Preferences File I/O into the default ones, does something changes in the settings?

It is not my software, I'm a user like you and trying to help other users
I have no problems but compare my laptop from signature with your used software and you wil see a big difference
I cannot further help than my clues to start and handle a project after you did reset the program to its start by doing exactly this tutorial how to do.

@David-Maria This is a user to user forum. So yes j-v is a user like you. None of us are "Vegas" (although Vegas staff do occasionally pop in). If you want assistance from "Vegas" you need to lodge a ticket with Magix Vegas Support. You say you've "not heard a peep from Vegas" but have you actually been through the Support process and lodged a ticket? If so please quote your ticket number and one of the Mods will chase it up with Vegas for you.
