Custom frame size

pangiaxiong wrote on 7/5/2022, 8:34 PM

Hello,

I'm using Song Vegas Pro 19. I'm using Sony Vegas to do a video for nasdaq billboard on NYTS and the setting that they required is :

CONTENT & FILE FORMAT:- Final Content Size: 2336px H x 1832px W- Live Area: 2336px H x 1832px W- Resolution: (1.0) px @ 72 dpi- Color Mode: RGB- Copy Length: :15, :30, :60-seconds; 30 FPS

After finishing my project and trying to render select format "Apple ProRes" because they required it in .MOV for better quality but every time I put in the height 2336 it keep on automatically changing to 2160px. Is there a max height that sony vegas allow for format apple prores? and I tried with MAGIX AVC/AAC MP4 and it allow me up to 2304px which is the highest out of all the formats. I tried with song AVC/MVC and it was able to let me changed to the required setting but then I got an error message " an error occurred while creating the media file an invalid argument was specified"

Can anyone help? I have to turn in the video to them at the end of the month. Thanks

For non-standard frame sizes, you'll need to use something HappyOtterScripts or Voukoder. Both support ProRes using FFmpeg.

AKA the HappyOtter at https://tools4vegas.com/. System 1: Intel i7-8700k with HD 630 graphics plus an Nvidia RTX4070 graphics card. System 2: Intel i7-3770k with HD 4000 graphics plus an AMD RX550 graphics card. System 3: Laptop. Dell Inspiron Plus 16. Intel i7-11800H, Intel Graphics. Current cameras include Panasonic FZ2500, GoPro Hero11 and Hero8 Black plus a myriad of smartPhone, pocket cameras, video cameras and film cameras going back to the original Nikon S.

Yeah it's a bug of some sort, Prores is 5K (8K?), but Vegas will only do a maximum of 2160P, not 2880P(5K)

Voukoder will work, it has 2 ffmpeg variants of Prores

That is 1832P, less than 2160P.

There should be no limitation on any of the variants going by this table

Install the Vegas plugin and Voukoder it'self, it will appear in render options

Thanks! installed it and is this how it show look like? I'm not sure where to put the custom size?

john_dennis wrote on 7/5/2022, 10:50 PM

@pangiaxiong

Here's a roundabout way to get this done without going through Voukoder panels. This time, with the requested pixel dimensions.

@wwaag

Do we know when the frame server will work in Vegas 19-nnn? I've been doing air conditioning and missed it if it's happened already.

Voukoder will render at the Vegas project pixel dimensions and frame rate.

Just so you know,

  1. dpi metadata in video formats does not exist. Nunca. It is a still image scanning and printing parameter, entirely unrelated to video production.
  2. RGB format is undeliverable by every streaming standard in the last fifteen years. It is only relegated to ancient Uncompressed, PNG, MJPEG, RLE, and couple of other MOV obscurities.
  3. All ProRes MOV is YUV (or YUVA) format, as is AVC, as is HEVC, as is ...............
  4. Video pixel dimensions are expressed as WxH, not HxW.

To put it nicely, someone who wrote that is living in the last century or some other place where the sun don't shine.

Just a note: The frame dimensions you want, 1832x2336 are available in the Magix AVC and Magix HEVC renderers if you choose the software encoders, not the machine encoders, which are fixed format size.

Thank you so much for your information and I completely agreed. I was so confused at the requirements and asked the guy about this but he seems not to understand it himself too haha. I will also try your suggestion. Thanks again

Frankly, I've seen this before, even from film festival producers.

@pangiaxiong you are saying that you use "Sony" Vegas Pro 19. There is no Sony Vegas Pro 14 to 19. Please confirm that you are using a legitimate copy of VEGAS Pro 19 from MAGIX. Please note that there is no support here for cracked or pirated copies. The corresponding user accounts will not be supported either.
