This is of course very concerning but I can't recall any similar reports on the forum in recent years. As you have posted on the Vegas Pro forum, I assume that you downloaded a trial of Vegas Pro or Vegas Move Studio, but it does seem a bit odd that you say that you downloaded 3 of 6 products for a trial yet Vegas Creative Software only has 2 primary NLE products: Vegas Pro and Vegas Movie Studio. Yes, there are variants on those, but the trial version is the same for each variant.

Also, I don't believe that Vegas Pro/Movie Studio trial versions require bank or credit card details to be provided, those only being required when making a purchase. That has been my experience over the years anyway.

Taking into account https://www.vegascreativesoftware.info/us/forum/vegas-creative-software-website-impersonation--125010/ ... what was the exact web page address (URL) of the web site from which you downloaded the trials? This will help rule in or out whether or not you've ended up on scam website purporting to be Vegas Creative Software / MAGIX.

If you downloaded any trial that required a card or bank number, you've been scammed.

Magix does not require any credit or banking information to download a trial version.

Provide the url to the site you visited to the Attorney General of your state or province, cancel the charges through your provider, and hope for the best.

@chris-levesque

As has been stated, we do not require any credit card information to use a trial of our software. We do know that there are some sites spoofing our site and disguising themselves as VEGAS Creative Software. It is very possible that you have accessed one of these sites instead of the real vegascreativesoftware.com. The sole reason for those spoof sites is to obtain private information.

Actually it seems it's not his email address, but a suspicious one to maybe watch out for.

@chris-levesque  ... I hope that you have contacted your bank/credit card provider to see if anything can be done to recover the scammed funds. And because the scammer has your bank or credit card details and may continue making charges/debits, your bank will probably recommend (or require) the cancellation of the affected account/credit card and replacing it with a new account/card.

On the 'once bitten, twice shy' approach, I imagine that you will now be very cautious about providing bank details to any company by any means other than directly on the company's webpage where the URL address on the payment page is preceded by the 'https' notation ('s' meaning 'secure'). Even if dealing with a sole trader (e.g. shop or tradesperson) who doesn't have a fixed or mobile credit card machine, opt for getting their bank account details (BSB, account number and account name) and then organise a bank transfer from your account to that account - much easier to do if you have internet banking - and its a common arrangement these days.

It is sad that the world has come to this.

One of the scam emails I got the other day invited me to join an investment scheme and promised that I'd be a millionaire within 3 to 4 months - but it came from a gmail address. Almost anybody can create a gmail address and apparently many times at that. If the investment scheme is so successful, the company's operator surely would have made squillions and would therefore have been be able to afford a proper .com webpage.
