Movie Studio 14-speeding up the playback images

yolanda-fletcher wrote on 11/27/2017, 3:00 PM

This is my first time creating a movie using Movie Studio 14, and I have selected my images but during playback they run so slow. Is there a way to speed the images with the transitions up??? I was told this product was suppose to be easy for beginners, but....

Also, on the playback box the images do not fill the entire box, what can I do about that without stretching the images.

Thanks

I have the MS plain... But its very difficult to try and speed up the images when I want to do the playback. I know there must be a way to speed up the transition images ... Again, this my first time...

Thanks

I'm not very familiar with the sidebar... I feel I'm learning as I go. This program is not the easiest as I was told when I purchased it about 2 weeks ago.

The program has a learning curve.

The OP might want to get familiar with Slideshow Creator, as Cornico suggests. According to MS Comparison Table, it is available in the basic/plain MS 14 as well. (E.g.) this tutorial should still be of help.

If I understand correctly what you want to change now, pls read this comment from way back when. (Note: Ctrl+drag to the left). The advice from Chienworks is still valid and comes up here every now and then. Musicvid and Chienworks (btw, where is he) have helped users (incl. myself) enormously in our learning curves over the years.

Not sure if that's what you mean, but if you keep CTRL pressed while you drag the edges of a clip, you'll speed it up (if you make it shorter) or slow down (if you make it longer). It's pretty intuitive once you know. Max slowdown speed is a 0.25 factor of the orginal, but if you slow down you need to have footage shot with a higher FPS to avoid jerking.

As I said, it does come up every now and then ;) You can speed up 4x (without rendering and dropping it back to the timeline).

Thanks...

Also , does anyone know how to save a project and burn to DVD...I have movie studio plain.

When I purchased it, I was led to believe it had that feature.. Does anyone know..

If not ,can you save your project and import it to a upgraded version of movie studio... So I will not lose what I already have saved...This has been a different experience😓

You need to use the workflow described by Cornico here.

You can.

upgraded version of movie studio

Re upgrading see if you can pick up some pointers from this thread or from here.

Thanks so very much....

This may be a silly question....

How to you save your project on your hard drive so when you have to remove the movie studio basic to import it to upgraded version...

And how would you do that?... What is the process to take it from the hard drive to import it to the new program once I get the new version

Thanks

You save the project which creates a '.vf' file. This is a small file and does not contain any of your source material. It contains your editing instructions plus details of where MS will find your source material.

When you have upgraded either:

1 - Find the vf file and double click on it. Windows should then open the file into MS.

2 - Open MS and use Project/Open or the Open button to browse to where you put the vf file and select it.

When you Save your Project, the Project file (.vf) and assets are saved to you hard drive in a place that you chose, where the Project can be opened and used again. It might be a good idea to consult any number of online tutorials before asking for instructions on basic functions - - opening, closing, saving, for instance. Or check out some books by Steve Grissetti on Amazon.

That said, Vegas Movie Studio is either wonderful or terrible software, depending totally on your need to get good at using it. 15 years ago it was called Video Factory and I, like you, felt overwhelmed at first because it didn't work even a little bit like Windows Movie Maker. Haven't looked back since...

@vkmast

I think several of us miss Kelly (Chienworks).

Will do... Sorry for any inconvenience this posed regarding the saving process. Again, I was unclear if there were any special instructions this is a different type of software... And since this was an open forum.... And some many individuals have been very helpful I did not want to continue to use so many man hours like I had been before I was able to get many of my questions answered..

Again, I m glad I did share what I was told because another individual shared a link regarding someone experiencing my same issue and helped direct me on how I may try to resolve my issue... And I do understsnd that no one on this forum is responsible for that... But again some one else experienced it and that info.was helpful.Thank you everyone for the advise...

I'm sorry, I didn't feel inconvenienced, I felt a little drunk. Post has been edited accordingly.
